First I admit I could not play the game for more than half an hour.
The first bad sign for me was the first text on the screen - such a small font was hard to read. Later in the game all mouseover text were even smaller and shown in the corner. No options to fix this of course.
The atmosphere is good but everything is dark and objects are hard to see. No option to make it brighter of course.
The character is walking slowly and there is no way to skip that...
Generally it requires too much effort to stare at the screen so I could not feel any satisfaction trying to play this game. Can't recommend.
The game design is nearly perfect. The atmosphere of horror and powerlessness it presents is exceptionally crafted.
This truly is a masterpiece of a story told through survival horror / puzzle solving.
You must now be confused with my rating; perhaps it's a mistake. There are significant spoilers ahead.
If you are someone who enjoys winning in the end, like everything you've done was for a great purpose, and that you succeed. DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME.
It has a significantly disappointing end, everything you've done is for nothing, and you leave the game feeling depressed. Your family dies, everyone, or is already dead and your character doesn't know it, but you do. Sure you die thinking you save your wife, but literally everyone dies and you the player are aware of this fact.
But hey, if you don't mind not being happy or not winning in the end, great game.
