It is a time of great rejoicing in the galaxy. Luke Skywalker, with the help of Wedge Antilles, has blown up the Death Star. But there is little time to celebrate. The mighty Empire is gathering strength for a determined, all-out assault on the Rebel forces.
To save the Rebel Alliance from this Imperial onslaught, Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles have assembled the Rogue Squadron, a group of twelve of the most skilled battle-tested starfighter pilots. You will fly into battle as Luke Skywalker, to engage in intense, fast-paced planetary air-to-ground and air-to-air missions ‒ dogfights, search and destroy, reconnaissance, bombing runs, rescue assignments, and more.
Take on the Galactic Empire in X-wings, Y-wings, A-wings, V-wings, and snowspeeders.
Prove you’ve got what it takes against a slew of the Empire’s best and baddest, including AT-AT walkers, AT-STs, TIE fighters and more.
Test your flying skill through extraordinary environments ‒ over water, through canyons, deserts, and volcanic regions.
Astonishing 3D details include real time lighting and special effects (explosions, smoke, engine glow, tracer fire and more).

Love the game its a classic.
Very exciting game for its time.
Still has very immersive gameplay.
For those who are struggling to make it work properly.
First thing I recommend to use it with Glide (like nGlide, I use it) emulator and change videocard device to glide in game launcher app. It's located in game's installation folder. It will allow you to change resolution to modern ones with help of glide emulator.
Second, if you have problem configuring you gamepad, go to registry, open
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC\Rogue Squadron\v1.0
and change value to 0 for JoystickID record. Now you can bind controls by yourself.
Enjoy!
...this game MUST be added to the GOG preservation program in order to make ir work properly.
Control and camera issues are preventing this classic to be played at its best way.
I feel bad writing this review because Rogue Squadron 3D was a really happy memory of my childhood. However, after finishing the game after so many years, I came to recognize that this game was a complete mess.
First and foremost, if you play this game, prepare to fight with the camera for the whole game. A bug in the PC version make the camera stay really far back from time to time and you have to cycle the camera back and forth to get the angle you want. You'll have to do this constantly.
The enemy AI is really basic. Some missions will be downright impossible until you memorize enemies spawn point and destroy target in a specific order. A mission in particular where you have to escort some walker came really close to make me stop playing the game. There's another mission where a few enemies target you directly.. however the AI really can't handle it.. so the interceptor just try get near you and then slow down and spin on itself at 1km/h. If you try to get away, he,ll just target you directly and probably kill you. It truly don't feel like a fast pace SW dog fight. After that.. you fight the last boss that does multiple completely ridiculous maneuvers. That's truly the wrong way to make a game more difficult.
The life system is really confusing.. instead of giving you a number of life for each mission, it carry the remaining lives over to the next mission.. so if you die 2 times in a mission et then succeed, you'll get the game over screen after the first dead in the next mission.. forcing you to continue again with 3 lives to losing any progress you made.
I still had some fun playing the game. I liked that some missions were really short and to the point.
There is something wrong with the camera and the flying of my ship (X-wing).
After a few seconds it goes far far away until it disappears at the horizon and is nowhere to be seen...
