It is a time of great rejoicing in the galaxy. Luke Skywalker, with the help of Wedge Antilles, has blown up the Death Star. But there is little time to celebrate. The mighty Empire is gathering strength for a determined, all-out assault on the Rebel forces.
To save the Rebel Alliance from this Imperial onslaught, Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles have assembled the Rogue Squadron, a group of twelve of the most skilled battle-tested starfighter pilots. You will fly into battle as Luke Skywalker, to engage in intense, fast-paced planetary air-to-ground and air-to-air missions ‒ dogfights, search and destroy, reconnaissance, bombing runs, rescue assignments, and more.
Take on the Galactic Empire in X-wings, Y-wings, A-wings, V-wings, and snowspeeders.
Prove you’ve got what it takes against a slew of the Empire’s best and baddest, including AT-AT walkers, AT-STs, TIE fighters and more.
Test your flying skill through extraordinary environments ‒ over water, through canyons, deserts, and volcanic regions.
Astonishing 3D details include real time lighting and special effects (explosions, smoke, engine glow, tracer fire and more).

I love everything Star Wars! I really enjoyed this game. It is full of action. I can not stand games that are full of blood and sexual themes. That just tells me the game is pathetic and the story lame. I have windows 8.1 and it ran just fine.
(I set the installer to use compatibility mode for Windows XP and to run as an administrator. My Windows 10 system installed it perfectly. I even cabled up my old FFB2 - and the game responds perfectly!) I don't think my GTX1070 even blinked haha, nice and smooth throughout. Wonderful audio and music, atmosphere, graphics still look good even though this is years old. It can be played with kbd+mouse but highly recommend joystick for the full experience. Games levels are spot on, using tow cables is still a pain in the neck - just how it should be! From start to finish, one of the great games out there. Ok, I'm the wrong side of 35 so perhaps it won't tick all the boxes for youngsters but for me, this is an epic nostalgia trip, thank you GoG.com.
Like many of you, I was blown away by "Star Wars: Shadows of the empire" on the N64 and like most of us, I very much enjoyed the flying sequences.
Well, te guys from Factor 5 Studios also enjoyed those scenes and glady were in the position to create a story around the Rogue Squadron.
Initially this game had nothing to do with Star Wars and was planned as a 3-D Flying game, named Fractalus.
Althoug most main battles from the movies where not allowed to be used, the programmers still were able to sneak in some major events, like the attack on the death star or beggars canyon.
One major easter egg of this game was the fact, that even though Star Wars Episode One wasnt released prior to the game, the programmers were allowed to include the Naboo Starfighter as a gimmick (google how to activate it).
As for myself I loved X-Wing and Tie-Fighter, but both games were more like simulations, Rogue Squadron is the little arcadish brother which totally fits my wishes for a game in that universe.
If you like Star Wars and want to experience the life of a X-Wing Pilot first Hand, try this one out, you wont regret it, I guarantee.
It needs a little bit time to adjust it to your controller (I used an X-Box 360 Controller), but you will get the job done!
I remember loving this game on N64. When I saw it availablee digitally i jumped on it. There was some technical hiccups and had to do some work arounds but when your in the game its feels great, the sound is perfect, one of the best Star Wars video games ever.
I've read through, and it seems everyone has the same problem of the game refusing to load if one downloads it from galaxy. IrishMafia says there was a link to use instead that prevented this. I cannot find it and 7 install/uninstall cycles haven't yielded any improvement.
Too bad, because I've wanted to play this game since I found a manual for it at my best friend's house at the age of 9. her big brother had had it but ironically it didn't work on his pc. I've grown up on gamecube titles 2 and 3, and always wanted to play this one. Too bad, wish it worked.
