STAR WARS™ Rebellion

The game is very easy to beat, the graphics were substandard at the time and the game is buggy to the point that you will occasionally lose Star Destroyers. I play it because it takes me back to classic Star Wars and I am lost for a few hours in a titanic struggle for the galaxy.

The game gives you so much freedom. Please look up a video playthru to learn it, it is worth it. Once you realize how it works, its easy. This game plays like the board game rebellion.

This game may seem boring or difficult at the beginning...but as soon as you learn how to play it (and use all the side things of espionage and assassian missions) you really begin to enjoy the strategy of everything. I was playing as the Alliance and trough spy missions was able to find out the Empire was building 8 advanced shipyards. I thought to myself, wow that is a lot-I wonder what that is for? I tried another spy mission loaded with spys and hero charactors to find out they were building another death star at that location. I was able to then send my fleet to attack before it was ever a threat. Simply awesome for a RTS without any scripted campaign.

I swear, as buggy as this felt a decade (or more) ago, it feels more buggy now. crashes to desktop are far to frequent (one just happened to me, actually, dumping me back into my GOG app and the popup asking me to rate the game, lol ) most commonly during fleet combat (or at the end of fleet combat, I guess)

Manage your spies, assassins, resources, bases and fleets while exploring the galaxy and building up your forces to control it. It's a VERY old game. The 3D graphics are VERY ropey. The Fast setting goes too fast and the Slow setting too slow so you spend most of your time speeding through the days until something happens, at which point you desperately change it to Slow before something bad occurs. Despite all these issues, I can easily spend hours playing this game. I love the immersion, the idea of playing with all the Star Wars toys and creating my own saga, with it's own twists and turns: Han and Chewie got caught sabotaging an Imperial planet! Do you try to rescue them, or just invade it? Do you send Luke? Bad luck, he's gone to Dagobah. It needs a long list of QOL improvements, but if you can put up with the quirks, the age and the micromanaging, you'll find yourself engrossed in this galactic strategy.
