Imagine Age of Empires, but in Star Wars. Well, this is it.
Absolutely outdates game design, yet increadebly addictive game. Some factions are broken, others just too goofy to play, but hey do you really care if it's Star Wars?
Incredible that this game still works - used to play years and years ago. I loaded it via GOG.com on my Windows 10 machine, without a graphics card. Despite a few setup issues, it runs great. During setup, I had to enable the DirectPlay legacy Windows Feature, then the game started fine. I installed the Voobly client to play it with Widescreen and better resolution, and it runs handsomely on my 2560x1440 display. No crashes, slowness, or other glitches to speak of - simply amazing!
Having played many hours of this game as a kid, I was overjoyed to find SWGB on GOG. Now, having played 68 hrs as of today, I couldn't recommend this game enough. It's not a perfect game (relax, autists)- it is basically Age of Empires II with a Star Wars skin. But with the fun missions, hundreds of units unique to the Star Wars universe, endless possibilities in the scenario editor, and 3rd party multiplayer ability and free overhauls (check out Expanding Fronts) this game continues to deliver just as much fun as it did when I was a young lad. Get this game!
