The game it's ok for modern standards as a person that played EA's battlefront 2 I have to say that this one plays way better, but has less graphical fidelity and more focus on gameplay.
I loved who chaotic the game it's but I hated how mundane are the objectives of the missions.
It worth your money
Unfortunately this game hasn't aged well at all.
While it was terribly enjoyable back in the day, I experienced graphics issues with this version that render the game unplayable. Some issues with Direct-X perhaps? Some incompatibility with modern graphics cards? Or is it that this version just doesn't "play well" with AMD? Whatever it is: looking at giant monochromatic triangles without textures, while trying to figure out where you are and where you are going is no fun at all.
So unless this version of the game sees some heavy adjustments to make it work again, it is ATM unfortunately a complete waste of your money.
After 2 hours and 25 minutes removed from HDD
1) Problem with textures - missed textures, new colourful textures (on planetary battles), non of resolutions on internet helps (Quadro SLI / R9 270X + 8.1 x64 + 32GB RAM + 2X Opteron) - any ideas will be appreciated. It really makes game terrible to play.
1+1/2) game-crash, on space battles - it just quits, non of crash record was found. Why ? This is first game of 70 owned GOG games that crash ...
2) AI ? this game has AI ? ... X-Wings destroys each other by crash seen by 10th time in one planetary battle - it was to funny. The same about ground battle and waiting for everything storm troopers. Even on X-Wing Alliance / Tie Fighter i do not saw such great AI. Well this game is normally set to be played on network and what we have on network: ?
3) lags ... WHY ? lags in NET game ? in one network ? between computers connected to one router ? well even un-patched stalker was working great on such configuration. Battlefront I was working and now Battlefront 2 have lags ?
4) terrible space battles - who knows Star Wars history line / spaceships knows that Tie-Interceptor was far better that X-Wing. In this game ... is worst than Tie-fighter. Goood ! Lot of other strange history changes ... but is is only a game :).
5) unbalanced weapons - You can kill Lord Vader with shotgun %-] even on lagged game.
6) small maps, it really have small maps.
The game on consoles is great..PC port not so much. It’s still a good game, just very jank and broken. Resolution doesn’t work, low frame rate if you use anti-aliasing or V-sync, etc. Just go in prepared for a version that feels better to control, but isn’t as polished.
