I found the fix and love the game

I forgot how much I loved playing this game. For anyone who, like me, had trouble loading between each menu option, I noticed the small print saying "Intel intergrated graphics are not supported" so I changed my display settings from my desktop, added STA2 to the list of programs controlled and change the default to my graphics card "High performance" instead of CPU intergrated "power saving". I hope this helps.

The best RTS in the ST universe to date

Is not the perfect RTS, but is certainly the best in the Star Trek universe. The campaign will take you the TNG, DS9 & VOY era. It is set just after the events of ST:Voyager to be more precise, but the 3 series are referenced. Each faction has its own campaign so each map you play feel like an episode. You can also play a selected map outside of a campaign. Once you played the campaigns, if you are willing to forefit the 3D combat, you can install the mod "fleet ops". "fleet ops" its free full revamp of the game. You need to own Armada II and then you install "fleet ops" on top. It doesn't have a campaigns but it can play a map of your selection with random initial placement of each faction and all the other factions controlled by the PC. You can parametrize how many faction will be in the map and the difficulty. I have spend over a thousand of hours playing in skirmish mode, playing with harder settings every time.

Works on Linux via Wine

I bought and installed this on Linux using Wine. Was a simple install with no issues. Didn't make any tweaks for it to work. Only played one game so far, but I will update this review if I run into any issues.

Menu doesn't work

When the game reaches the main menu clicking on options does not update what page I'm on. I have to minimize the window, then reopen it for it to be updated. When I do this repeatedly so that I can get into playing it works fine, but for instance opening an Instant Action requires that I minimize the windoes twenty times just to put opponents, select a map, and launch the game. As such I can't really say that the game is functional. Hopefully it will be fixed and I can update the review to be more positive.

Star Trek RTS as it should be

Did the tutorial just tell me to refer to the user manual?! Hell yeah it did! What a great, old school, RTS that had some very unique features for the time! Well worth the $9.99, and the voice acting is spectacular!
