After so long...
Well what can i say, i absolutely love this game and finally have it without issues. Installed and it was working, however, it was not full hd so i downloaded the unoficial patch 1,3 from armada files. All worked absolutely fine and running on Full HD! Brilliant game, simple, yet efective. As i hate the new RTS titles as they are too complicated. So definitely give it a go if you can.

Prepare away teams!
To my surprise, it works out of the box on Windows 10 x64. Game keeps its original 4:3 screen ratio, so no weird scalling issues on widescreens. No crashes after first 3 hours. Only during mission loading, I get a short glitch-blink to desktop and back. Liky in the original, QoL issues are still present. Unskipable story animations, menu can be opened only through HUD button and not ESC key, HUD is too big and takes 1/3 of the screen, only 8 ships can be controlled at once, ... But overall its still playable. Game itself is Star Trek RTS, with emphasis on small number of ships and their micro-management. Sound and music is awsome. Story is ok. The main feature I love here is the "teleporters". Every ship has crew that can be teleported. So, attack enemy ship, break its shields, give it few more shots to reduce its crew even lower. And then start teleporting you crew on that ship. When your crew beats enemy crew, ship is yours.

Out of all the Star Trek® games to be digitally re-released, I was MOST excited for the announcement of Star Trek: Armada 1 - one of the BEST Star Trek games ever to exist! Why is Star Trek: Armada 1 so amazing you ask? Voice Acting: Features 4 iconic Star Trek TNG/DS9 actors reprising their legendary roles! Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard and Locutus of Borg, Michael Dorn as Lt. Commander Worf, J.G. Hertzler as Chancellor Martok, and Denise Crosby as Romulan Admiral Sela. Gameplay mods: Star Trek: Armada 1's core gameplay mechanics are very similar to other RTS games released around that time - but the one thing that really took Armada 1's gameplay and brought it to the next level were game modifications created by a passionate community of fans - specifically the legendary Millennium Project 1.9 SE mod! This single game modification adds almost every conceivable canon starship from the Star Trek: The Next Generation/Deep Space Nine/Voyager/Post Star Trek: Nemesis timeline AND also re-textures a lot of existing in-game starships with beautiful HD quality. Along with these new starships, the mod creators included additional hero ships and stations from the TNG/DS9/VOY timeline for use in multiplayer that includes: Deep Space Nine as the Federation starting starbase, the Borg Queen's Diamond with Alice Krige voice over (Borg Queen, Star Trek: First Contact/Star Trek: Voyager), Enterprise D - Galaxy X-class with Jonathan Frakes (Cmdr Riker, Star Trek: TNG), Klingon Bird of Prey IKS Hegh'ta with Captain Kurn (Tony Todd) voice over. Story: Nothing to really write home about but still interesting for Star Trek fans. Music: Enjoyable but sometimes a bit monotonous. Fnally Star Trek: Armada is on GOG!!!
As a long time fan of this game, I was thrilled to find out that it was finally added to the GOG library. Like many of you, I was saddened to find out several Windows upgrades ago that my original CD's would no longer work properly. I'm thinking this happened sometime between Windows XP or 7? In any case I have waited well over a decade to be able to play Star Trek: Armada and I am so happy it's on GOG! I have played this game with no issues other than I do notice some minor graphical imperfections that wil occasionally come up. I'm not sure if the publisher will release updates for this, but as someone has stated, you can look up the Star Trek: Armada Patch 1.3 project to alleviate this and even get HD resolution. One thing that is missing is the original artwork that would be displayed during installation. I will miss that but the game play is exactly the same. Point, click, and select what you want to do. Star Trek: Armada is one of those simple RTS games that brings us back to a much less complicated time where you can just enjoy a game without having to resort to watching a Youtube video. Point, click, attack. Live long and prosper friends!

My all time favorite game runs great!
GoG team did an awesome job of getting Armada running smoothly on Windows 10! Some technical details: Starting resolution is about 640x480, but it can be changed in the menu. Starting screen and menus are stuck at 640x480, but text is smoothed nicely. We are limited to the original 4:3 resolutions the game came with. 1600x1200 is the highest. Installing unofficial patch 1.3 remedies that. Armada looks AMAZING in 4k 16:9. (but the OSD along the bottom gets stretched all the way across the screen, just as it went all the way across in 4:3.) The videos are prerendered at a very low rez. No fixing that. Don't switch to desktop while in a menu. It'll glitch and you won't be able to get back to the gameplay. However, you CAN pause it and switch to desktop just fine. Use the "Pause Break" key on the keyboard. Just last year I visited the friend who introduced me to Armada. We actually got a LAN game working. That was before GoG enhanced it for their own release, but I would assume it still works. Game review: Armada is the only RTS I've ever been able to get into, and it's my favorite game to this day. I've played this game atleast once a month for over 20yrs now. It's very well balanced. There are lots of counter measures. For example: the Borg have the strongest ships, but they take the more resources and time to build than the other races' ships. Campaign is very well done. You get to play as 4 different races and see the story from their side, however it's deeper and more varied than just "Play the same mission but on the other team now." Only the final battle for Earth mission is like that. Multiplayer (up to 8 players,) even with bots is loads of fun. You can pick teams, no teams, 6 against 2, lots of combinations and aspects you can adjust. Change amount of resources you start with. Change if you need to research tech or get the special weapons automatically. etc. And there's one mission with an Easter Egg that can totally change how you play it.
