S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

I've never played STALKER and was a bit afraid that this game wouldn't be that fun as it might have not aged very well. I was totally wrong. The game is super fun, nostalgic soviet estetics even fits the old graphics, and it features one of the best balanced exploration in games that I have ever seen. The world is big, but it's obvious that combing through every bush doesn't make sense and the game doesn't encourage you to do that, but gives reasonable hints where to go instead, still leaving some room for player's curiosity and adequately rewarding the latter.

This game has been on my list for a long time due to its cult following, and the game does a good job at starting a player off with the series. Overall, I don't mind the graphics or the mechanics of the game, but I did have to look up a tutorial on the HUD elements since the game doesn't do well with explanations. The only thing I don't love is the gunplay, but that is easily overcome by the time you actually get into the meat of the game. I installed mods for stability and quality of life such as ZRP, and the game runs fine. Good hunting, stalkers.
