You're on a path in the woods, and at the end of that path is a cabin. And in the basement of that cabin is a Princess.
You're here to slay her. If you don't, it will be the end of the world.
She will do everything in her power to stop you. She'll charm, and she'll lie, and she'll promise you the world, and if you let her, she'll kill you a dozen times over. You can't let that happen. Don't forget, the fate of the world rests on your shoulders.
You're not going to listen to him, are you? We're supposed to save princesses, not slay them...

- A princess. She's very bad and you have to get rid of her for all our sakes.
- No, the Princess isn't a cosmic horror. She's just an ordinary human Princess, and you can definitely slay her as long as you put your mind to it.
- Don't even think about trying to romance her. It won't end well for you.
- Hopefully you won't die. But if you do, you'll die a lot. Be careful and stay focused on the task at hand!
- Time loops No time loops. Don't be ridiculous. Time is a strictly linear concept and it certainly doesn't "loop," whatever that's supposed to mean.
- A branching narrative where what you say and what you believe determines both your build and how the story unfolds.
- A new roleplaying experience from the creators of Scarlet Hollow.

While some may come for the terrors of blood, bone, and the unknown, the tender core is what will keep the game in your mind.

It’s about the interpersonal relationships that can wound us, make us versions of ourselves we never imagined, yet teach us. It is a damn good story, and one worth experiencing.

Slay the Princess is a fantastic, fascinating journey, and anyone looking for a game that keeps them on their toes, explores the dark side of heroism, and throws up some more cerebral scares (so, anyone who liked Alan Wake 2) needs to check this one out.

I love it.
It's a thought-provoking choose-your-own-adventure with fascinating characters. The music/sounds, voice acting, and artwork is all fantastic too. It has just enough spice now and then, with [spoilers here] and [spoilers there]. (Granted, my spoilers will likely be different from your spoilers.) If you'd like, you can go back after the story and see all the possible paths, but I'm satisfied with what I've got.

A great game with surprising depth
This is a great game, especially if you go in completely blind. It reminds me of the best of the classic Choose Your Own Adventure books from the 1980s, where you'd really get into the story and try to figure out what exactly you're supposed to be doing. From the start, you're given choices. So many choices that scrolling through the list of things you can say or do, you may feel a bit overwhelmed at times. Which one is the right one? The great thing is that the game tells you early on that there are no wrong answers -- just branching paths. This is beautiful game design. If you don't normally play visual novels, I think this is a great way to dip your toes into the genre. Though I enjoyed the CYOA books as a teen, I was put off by visual novels because most of them looked like shovelware to me: barely interactable games for people addicted to horny (or at least fanservice-laden) anime. The princess herself is drawn a bit anime-like, but even if you're not into anime, I think you'll like this. The art is great, setting each scene beautifully. The voice work and the writing really complement each other, making both feel great. Right from the start, you begin feeling things based off the the intonations and attitudes of the characters. The story's depth is surprising. At first, it seems a fairly simple story, though it introduces more complexity. Just when you think maybe you've got it figured out, it gets weirder and proves you wrong. It's the sort of thing that intrigued me and got me to play a full session for several hours almost uninterrupted. When I realized the consequences of my actions, it made me feel guilty at times for choosing some of them. Other times, they were darkly humorous. I began experimenting, then hunting for the endings that I personally found satisfying. The replayability seems pretty high, though I think getting all the achievements would be a little tedious (and perhaps a bit of an emotional rollercoaster if you're the sensitive type). Things can get a bit wild.
