FIGHT THE PAST TO SAVE THE FUTURE. STOP THE SINGULARITY.
Learn the truth behind a massive cover-up of the catastrophic SINGULARITY, an event that fractured time and threatens the world as we know it. Armed with powerful, advanced weaponry and the experimental Time Manipulation Device, fight enemies from the past, the present, and abominations caught somewhere in between.
TIME IS YOUR WEAPON
- Use the TMD – Time Manipulation Device – to change the age of objects and enemies and bend time to your will.
- Age enemies to dust in seconds, manipulate objects outside the laws of gravity, and degrade objects to a withered state or renew them to their pristine form.
- Unlock upgrades to harness the TMD’s full power and expand your full arsenal of advanced weaponry.
EPIC SCI-FI ACTION THRILLER
- Heart-pounding, first person combat action that immerses you in a world where the past and present collide.
- Travel seamlessly between two eras – 1950s Russia and modern day – each rendered with stunning lighting, physics, and effects using the Unreal 3 Engine.
UNRAVEL THE CONSPIRACY
- Traverse the blur between the past and future in order to stop the mysterious SINGULARITY that threatens the world.
Well, like everything else - it's a matter of taste. For me, this game is somewhat mediocre. Upgrading skills and weapons is not really necessary, you could play through just fine without it. Maps do feel pretty much the same, most of the time. Not much variation and very linear as well. There are quite a few areas where you have to fight annoying little insects, which explode on impact (i personally hate small & fast enemies) and the story is told mostly by notes and voice records, which are scattered through the maps. Not very entertaining, if you ask me.
It's an OK game to buy, if it's on sale, but Raven has done better before.
Good action and fun mechanics. Weird plot and iffy Russian. I wish they did more research. There were times I rolled my eyes hard at another silly line. But that didn't make me hate the game. It's ok for one playthrough. Miles behind my favorite FPS, Bioshock. Lacking a bit in certain aspects. Not exactly memorable, besides the very beginning when the atmosphere was all tense and horror-like. That and the train boss battle. After that it's all the same.
I just played this. I realyl enjoyed it - a good linear FPS with good graphics and a nice feel to the game, with some interesting weapons, skills and enemies.
my only issues were, firstly, my usual dislike of checkpoints which means i end upplaying at an easier skill level than i otherwise would.
secondly, the limitation of only two weapons being carried which meant i stuck with the assault rifle and shotgun the whole time and rarely got to use the other weapons - I had to just use the others occassionally when they provided them at opportune moments. it was also annoying when i picked another weapon temporarily and then got carried away by a moving platform and didn't get to find another assault rifle for quite some time, causing real problems
Thirdly, the weapon changing, which i found really fiddly - the TMD device isn't in one of your weapons slots but it switches away from your weapon when used - plus the mousewheel didn't work well for changing weapons - trying to switch quickly to one or other of my weapons often left me with the wrong thing in the wrong situation when i had multiple enemies closing in.
this meant i didn't enjoy the more intense combat siuations as much as i otherwise would.
overall though it is well worth playing and i'm sure i'll reply at some point in the future.
