Appears Fun/Exciting until you realise..
I was hoping very strongly for a good alternative to kerbal space program for many different reasons I wont mention here because of how controversial those reasons are and how easily I could accidentally make a 500 page rant-review on KSP instead of simple planes... So I will make it a point to avoid doing that so that the only thing that comes through is my honest personal opinion in this review of simple planes and simple planes alone. I came across simple planes while searching gog.com for something, anything- resembling KSP to satisfy that "build really cool space ships and fly and then crash them" itch and was very pleasantly surprised at how similar they appeared. The differences were obvious and I welcomed it since the look of simple planes was refreshing in contrast to KSP but similar enough that It could potentially feel like just the type of game I needed. I added simple planes to my wishlist and barely a week later it was on sale! I prepared myself to enjoy the game and spent over 6 hours straight downloading a multitude of mods and community shared vehicles from the simple planes website only to discover that half the mods didn't work and 100% of the 300+ vehicles I downloaded provided me with a blank download that must then communicate with the game in a "special way" to then ask for the REAL vehicle download... Strange and totally fine, unless the computer you play games on can not connect to the internet! You can't really ask the website for the download itself so I suppose this is something to watch out for if mods and community content make or break a game experience for you. Goodbye ever being able to fly the community built aluminum falcon... Oh well... So I dove right into the game barebones-vanilla mode with a good attitude and realized to my horror that the controls for building a craft and piloting them are painfully counter intuitive and some of the worst and most frustrating of any game I ever played in my entire life. Ouch. ouch. ouch.
