There are some things that kids just shouldn't have to put up with. Being transported to some weird dimension full of goblins, dwarves, swamplings, stupid wizards and sleeping giants is definitely one of them.
After escaping a "welcoming party", Simon discovers that he has been brought on a quest to rescue the wizard Calypso from the evil sorcerer Sordid.
In the last 25 years, the 'Simon the Sorcerer' game series has made millions of players fall in love with Simon.
Now you can relive the renowned original adventure in a whole new way!
Simon The Sorcerer: 25th Anniversary Edition features:
Totally new, much praised, game play controls that were built from the ground up.

Quick actions using right-click.
Completely new game menus and save/load system
Four Music options: New stereo recording and the Original music in MT-32, General MIDI or AdLib
High-end graphics upscaling (xBRZ filter)

"...What kind of idiocy is this?!" - To loosely quote the release news.
The "Totally new, much praised, game play controls" totally take away part of the original spirit of the game, and the "improved" graphics are a disappointment.
If you have the original, stick with it and don't throw your money away buying this.
If however, you don't have the original yet - Then, this is what saves this release, and earned it the second star in this review - is the fact that GOG offers the original as a bonus goodie now.
A very wise choice on their part.
Let's set this straight: the original version runs better with scummvm than this version does natively. The mouse jumps around and you can't disable the smooth graphics.
If you do own the original version, do not buy this game. This way you won't feel ripped off. But than you also don't get to download the bonus soundtrack ... your choice
Bad news for those who don't own the original game: The original version is gone, replaced by this one.
So if you don't already own this game, you will have to stick with this version.
The game is still great, there is no question (that's what the 2nd star is for).
And once they fix the mouse bug, you will also be able to play it properly.
Just don't buy this, if you own the old version ... really. Don't do it.
I was considering getting these 25th anniversary editions just because I love the Simon games already, but the negative reviews have convinced me otherwise. I'll just stick with the originals I was lucky enough to have already bought on GOG and save my money for something else.
I love Simon the Sorcerer
Do not buy the Simon the Sorcerer: 25th Anniversary Edition,
The High-end graphics upscaling is so bad it is not you can not play it, without headic
it should never have been release.
I'm having a great time with this game. Granted the new graphics filter looks a bit weird to someone who played the original game. So guess what? I just turned it back to the classic settings with classic aspect ratio. Looks perfect to me.
I think the audio and music sounds better too and the biggest annoyance of the original game was pixel hunting. Now if you want to, you can just press SPACE and it highlights all of the interactive objects without luck or tedium involved.
Big thumbs up. Bought the 2nd game too
