I just came off of playing some Simcity 2000 (Arcologies for the win!) and I must say, I forgot how good 3000 is. Full of early 2000s graphical GOODNESS and updated mechanics. Did I mention that brilliant soundtrack? Well, I'm mentioning it now!
Yes, probably my favorite Simcity game.
"Reticulating Splines"
P.S. Isn't it ironic that Simcity 3000 was released in the year 2000? I think Will Wright dropped the ball on that one.
You have to be of certain attitudes to like SC3000, or any Sim City series game, or any other of this type (eg Cities Skylines).
You will either give this a raving 5-star review and be pos-repped to the highest heavens by fellow 5-star raving reviewers, or you'll be giving it a 1-star flaming takedown and be neg-repped to the depths of the sewers by those said 5-star raving reviewers. All that is quite normal for rep abuse here in GOG's reviews. They should (but will probably never) remove the rep system.
Once I was a true lover of SC, I loved SC when I first got in on my Amiga 500 in 1989, and loved SC2000 when I got in on my PC in 1994. Since then, I've not played any of it's kind for decades. But I myself have changed since, revisiting these here in the 2020's, I have not refound that love. In fact I was bored within just a hour of playing this, ditto for SC2000, and Cities Skylines. I simply have fallen out of love of the genre. So in my personal opinion, this is just 1-star. But it would be unfair to trash it so when in other eons I would have 5-starred it. So it gets 3.
You'll know before buying if you'll love this or loathe it though. But if you're unsure, heed my warning, you just might not like what you buy.
SC3000 is, to be objective, not quite as good as it's predecessor, SC2000, however. The UI is rather shitty, especially compared to 2000 - and the graphics are poorer, despite technically being more advanced. It sticks to same formula though, whilst also adding more content.
So, it is a good buy for those who KNOW they'll like it.
Me? I think I got it on a free offer, so, hey, no loss eh?
i remember i used to own a Copy of Simcity 3000 unlimited i remember as a kid this game was nothing but pure fun and enjoyment i used to spend hours upon hours playing that game building cities destroying them and now i recently bought the original Sims and the Simcity 3000 unlimited sad that we live in era where kids just talk about fortnite its really sad to me that Simcity 3000 era is over no one even remembers these types of games these days only true fans remember these types things were better back then as they are now. but personally i believe this game had its potential unlike its 2013 counter part wich was a mass failure. SC2K and SC3K And SC4K they all had a good potential good gameplay but graphics man oh man i love old graphics yeah but on today's standards those are potato graphic's like everyone would say but those who love this series and Sims series know that Old is Gold but Classic Good graphics gameplay Sounds the effects im proud that GOG has not forgot about this game its been 20 years and till this day everytime i play this i feel like im a child agian Thanks GOG for bringing the Series back at least new generation players can buy this game and play it so they can know how we felt back in the day the old Golden Age
Water pumps and power plants go bad after 100 years and you have to keep rebuilding them constantly. My game crashes alot with out saving so I don't know if I can play it.
