The Silent Storm series brings you two complete games that both provide with you a wealth of turn-based combat against the backdrop of World War II and beyond. It’s the year 1943 and you must lead a group of operatives as they assault against the enemy, wreak havoc on their operations, and find out what new power threatens both sides. After the dust settles from the war’s end, you must find and destroy the remnants of the organization known as “Thor’s Hammer.”
Silent Storm Gold features a fully destructible 3D world with ragdoll physics and non-linear gameplay. Play the game your way: engage in stealth and quietly take out your enemies or take the more direct route with a rocket launcher. Choose from over 40 operatives in each game, for a total of 80 unique personalities and skills, and arm them with over 75 different authentic and painstakingly-researched weapons. As far as squad command turn-based strategy games go, this one will surprise you with its great complexity and fantastic alternate reality setting.
This bundle includes S2: Silent Storm and S3: Silent Storm - Sentinels add-on.
Destructible environment opens up tactical options, whether it’s flushing an enemy out of a building via rocket launcher or knocking holes in a wall to make a field-expedient shortcut.
Multiple paths to complete the mission. Use brute force or stealth tactics across 3 different difficulty levels.
Unprecedented realism featuring true 3D, a fully destructible environment, and real projectile physics that take into consideration trajectory, speed, and piercing performance.

in the beginning it's fun, once you get used to the controls.
BUT:
after a while loading save games will cause errors.
and the game crashes constantly.
Only frustrating and definitively NOT recommended.
This game is a joke. Important objectives are not explained, neither is where the exit zones are. I spent half and hour searching for how to finish the first mission, and had to pick up a specific corpse (not labelled, no indication this was needed) and move to a specific area (again, not labelled as the LZ).
Expect to need a walkthrough to find out what you need to do. Pathetic.
NOT RECOMMENDED. Beyond the badly implemented, laggy, buggy 3D, destroyable environment, this game is trial-and-error, loading-a-save-as-a-core-progression-element kind of trash. E.g. you need to save before AN ENGINEER TRIES DISABLING A TRAP WITH SPECIAL EQUIPMENT. That is not how it works. That is what you get for devs trying to stretch out a full content out of the same repeated success percentage dice rolls. For the same reason, SMGs and many other weapons are for masochists as their hit percentage drops to single digits a couple feet beyond the touching distance. Even the bread-and-butter mechanics of the game are awful. It always comes down to cheesing the extremely stupid AI and out-ranging, in case you don't have to save-scum the out-of-nowhere enemy to miss a full-auto burst at your dude at the point-blank range.
Panzerkleins... Sure, let's screw up also the hitting percentage. How about hitting perfectly and dealing 0 damage. The whole point of those mech-suit contraptions is to introduce artificial complication and to force you to waste time searching for beam weapons that are practically the only thing that do significant damage to those things.
There is no story (you'll find beam guns and PKs - that's all you'll get) and the mission design ranges from filler to garbage. Enjoy wasting half a building just because there is a hole in the floor in front a vital doorway, trying to shoot another way in. Guess what: explosives break the floor and even when shooting straight at he wall, you dude misses the target so badly it hits the floor instead. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE MAPS WITH MULTI-FLOORED BUILDINGS. Also, there are timed objectives that do not really work. Mission "Unknown Complex" also adds timed objectives and practically requires very video-gamy glitching to be properly completed. Demonstrating the lazy design, there is a time limit with the mission, leading to auto-defeat. It also has crapton of objectives. F this game and its devs.
I bought this after reading the reviews on here. I was totaly bored after 2 hours. Back to xcom for me. Xcom and this have only one thing in common, that's turn based fighting.
I hate to mention Xcom in this review but so many people have stated it's like xcom but set in a world war 2 setting. It's not!
