The New World lies before you with all its peril, promise, and infinite possibility: your colonists anxiously follow you to shore and the treasures of an entire continent await you. But beware of your enemies! Angry natives and rival powers can encroach upon your territory. You'll have to overcome your foes with superior military strategy and wily diplomacy. Only then can you launch your revolution and declare your independence.
Players control either English, French, Dutch, or Spanish colonists in the New World. This New World can be the historically accurate Americas (North and South) or a randomly generated world with varying resources and challenges. Overseeing economic, military, and political growth, you strive to establish independence from the mother country while competing with other colonies for control of the New World.

Graphics and interface
The graphics and interface of this game are so dated as to make it nearly unplayable. I was able to play some by launching it through dos box in windowed mode. The resolution is probably below 320. The interface was slippery. When moving units it feels like they're covered with soap.

Won't run on Steam Deck
Was very much looking forward to playing this old school favorite on my new steam deck, but it won't execute. Will run on a windows laptop I have for my kids, but not my preferred system to use. Fun game on the laptop though....can't bring myself to give less than 3 stars. Just wish there was a listing whether it worked on the deck or not.

Would be perfect, but it is broken
I used to love this game so I bought it again 20 years later. It was a mistake, my roughly $1.50 were wasted. I completely forgot how the game seems to decide, that some enemy units cannot be killed, no matter how many of your own units you throw at them. I tested it with the cheat menu and spawned around 50 units. They ALL lost to one militia (foot soldiers, no horses!) in an open field. Sorry, but this game was, is and never will be playable.
