Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri™ Planetary Pack

Loads of fun, one of my most favorite Sid games. Never in a grid strategy game could go so fast and entertaining. You could terraform the planet like Earth or keep the planet as is and live with the mindworms and their red fungal habitat. One problem though which happened not too long ago. Windows updated 11 and it uncovered a 25 year old bug in the Alien Crossfire part of Alpha Centauri. There is a patch with the Thinker mod, it's on GitHub but other sites will give you a link to it

This is the perfect game - I've played it consistently since 1999 and I keep coming back to it. It is elegantly simple yet can be done with such complexity. Worth it!

Amazingly addictive game. I still play this one from the original disk. The level of customisation on the units is a joy, you can create a variety of units to do specific jobs, along with the comprehensive tech tree. Granted the unique techs don't exist but you don't need them because certain techs benefit certain groups more. Why oh why is Alien Crossfire not included - if it had then that would have been another purchase. I guess I will stick with my original disk.

I'm not even going to talk about the game, the rest of the reviews will do that for me. The lore in this game is beautifully written - when you start getting deeper you realize it's wonderfully complex for a 4x strategy game. I recommend reading the Prequel stories to get the full flavor of it.
