Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri™ Planetary Pack

This is the best turn-based strategy game ever made in my opinion. Admittedly, the graphics have not aged well and there are compatability issues even with this being the GOG version. I would still get the Planetary Pack on sale just to experience the game's depth and haunting atmosphere. While playing, one gets the sense the planet (Chiron) is truly alive and alien, and the AI leaders have real personalities that dictate the actions they take and their dealings each other and you. Highly recommended.

Alpha Centauri (now with Alien Crossfire) is one of those game with a high: "One more turn factor" A nice addition to your game list. "I don't know but I've been told, Deirdre's got a Network Node. Likes to press the on-off switch, Dig that crazy Gaian witch!"

Most games that I enjoyed ~20 years ago, such as Starflight I, well... they show their age. This game, however, seems like it hardly aged at all. Still super fun, still enormous replayability. I'm enjoying it more than modern games of the same genre such as Civ 5: Brave New World. They really nailed this.

Even for those of you, who are not the biggest fans of turnbased strategy, this old masterpiece has a really astonishing atmosphere to enjoy! The different guilds are indeed different in ideology, which is perfectly illustrated by the leaders comments and speeches of some literary quality during the whole game. Due to the many options to choose from and the various factors to deal with in addition to the quite foreign, not friendly world its a remarkable experience.

A 4x Turn-based-grand-strategy from Sid Meier. If you played Civ-series - you should try this game. Some fans joke about Alpha centauri like "It's a sequel of Civ after Scientific victory". Well sort of yes :). It's still look like "Civ" But in more alien-bizzare setting. More "far-from-Earth" mechanics and more discoveries. Try your wits and skills against different factions that nothing-closer to earth-based nations. A complex game with a lot of well placed mechanics, decent AI and longest runs of sessions. A gem, well polished and brought to auditory. Graphics is neat (As for game of end of Millenium) , sound design is decent, and gameplay deep like alien ocean and opened all for player's discovery. One of best games in "CIV"-like family.
