A. C. Doyle meets Lovecraft

Sometimes, you know when something is a labour of love. Sherlock Holmes the Awakened is one such a thing. It mixes nice detective mechanics with a good story that is blend of Lovecraftian horror (in its original sense) and great mini stories right from Doyle´s pages. Great characters, nice visuals, music, sound design - these all create immersive atmosphere and feeling of an authenticity. The game runs great. Stiffer character animations are not a problem, these add to charm. Game has some great easter eggs too. Defiitely recommend.

Can be infuriating to play. I like this series, these are not perfect games, but this one just feels like it's not well pieced together gameplaywise. It can be excusable, considering the war the developer are enduring, but be wary that it is not that fun to play.

Go slow with drugs

A relaxing adventure at the edge between reality and madness, SH:A is not really a challenging game, but it does drip with atmosphere. While the pacing could be faster, the puzzles are varied and not recycled between the chapters, and the main gameplay loop was engaging.

Interesting story, average mechanics

I'd only played a bit of the original, so can't recall much of it, but this remake is truly well made and fully cinematic. My main gripe, though, are the game mechancis that are a bit weird, not very intuitive. Also the story could move a bit faster or be a bit denser. It's still interesting, but some chapters tend to drag a bit until the interesting bits come. Nonetheless, it's a well made game that should be played by SH fans.

The best of them yet

Frogwares managed to remove most of the annoying and irritating features of previous games while building a very compelling and immersive story. Its the best of any Sherlock games they've released and it's not even close.
