All men eat, but Fu Manchu.

If you love Serious Sam, you are going to like this one. Instead of the iconic chainsaw, you wield a katana. It has RPG elements which allow you to focus on certain combat styles, and utilize and upgrade your combat moves, which are essentially tied to your katana. Each combat move has certain powers which should be used in adequate situations. For example: using area of effect strikes when surrounded by mob, using single target special attacks on powerful enemies, using energy slash attack for dealing ranged damage, etc. Other usable weapons are firearms (micro SMGs, shotgun, rocket launcher, flamethrower, etc.), and they have upgrades which add alternate firing modes to each of your weapons. The game is linear, but it has enough content to offer, especially if you are aiming to repeat the game by playing on higher difficulties, with fewer resources to plan out your build. Higher difficulties are challenging, unforgiving and a bit overdone at the times. Overall, the game is very fun experience, and the main character Lo Wang is very likable character. Definitely one of the most memorable characters in the gaming industry. One of the best Action games, and one of the best PC games overall.

Quite fun with a few quibbles

Well, I wrote a longer review, but since GoG found it to be too long, and quite unhelpfully didn't tell me what the maximum length was, I'll just give the cliff notes. + Fun game, good melee, surprisingly good story and characterisation, secrets, no regeneration. - Not quite as funny as the original, some fights can be quite obnoxiously hard (IMO, and on hard mode). While playing the game, I felt it would be quite fun to replay the game with all the upgrades I had bought by the end of the game. To my pleasure I discovered that I could. To my utter annoyance, I discovered that it would only let me replay the game on baby mode, because I'd lowered the difficulty for two fights in the game. The last time I lowered the difficulty because it was that or me quiting the game all together - it's wasn't worth the frustration. It soured the game to me. It feels like the game (or devs) was calling me a total loser and would only allow me to play at what it deemed me proper level: baby mode. At least I got it on a discount.

I finally play this game! Amazing!

I havent played too many games this year but out of all the shooter this is my favorite. I know it came out last year but for me this is my favorite shooter this year. Its like playing Big Trouble in Little China the video game. The sword fighting is action packed with so much finesse. Other games try to do this but they cant make a hero so quick and easy to control. I am not a fast type of gamer when it comes to shooters. But this game makes me feel like lightning. The story line is pure B movie humor. I havent laugh so hard at a game since South Park. Probably even more than South Park. I was even making my own one liners while playing. I cant believe this game hasnt been given more recognition. It is a must buy! I was a fan of the old one and this one raises the bar.

Awesome!

What an excellent game! Everything about it is well executed, from the performance on a middling computer to the juvenile humor and flowing gameplay. The game is entirely satisfying in that old fashioned, "stupid fun" sort of way that makes it a joy to play. Not that it's a simple game. Oh no, it has just the right number of wrinkles, whether that be assigning "Ki Points" which alter your fundamental skillset or stacking up "Karma" in order to select Perks which flesh out your character. Even your individual weapons can be upgraded. Every combat encounter plays out in a fantastically frantic manner, with the player using their wide variety of combos and skills, weapons and movement in order to slay the demon hoards. Again, the game has a sort of pure, visceral and raw "fun" that makes it a joy to play at every moment. The story isn't lacking either, with a wonderfully narrated deeper and emotional "backdrop" play going on behind the Player Character's more puerile (though hilarious!) narration of events. I can't recommend the game highly enough. It's a perfect combination of gameplay, humor, visuals and story wrapped in fun times ten. Hell it even makes backtracking entertaining! The moment you stumble out of a perfectly designed ancient well and right back into the fray you'll know you found a winner. Assuming you hadn't had a smile on your face and realized that in your previous hours of playtime already, that is! ;) Every gorgeous environment, well thought out level, laugh out loud line of dialogue and sheer fun factor make this a game I can't believe it took me so long to play. I can't believe this one isn't showered with praise in every discussion of fantastic FPS games!

90s reboot at its best

"You mess with the Lo, you get the Wang" Boy oh boy, first they make the original free, and now that original gets a reboot, goes on sale, and gets bought by me. Well, this is one heck of a game! A more mature Duke Nukem, and a more comedic Doom. This is basically taking Duke Nukem's comedy, making it grow up a bit, then shoving Doom nto the equation. For $3.99, you can't go wrong, especially when it's on GOG, if you have a low end computer like me, you'll still enjoy it to the max. I tried it on Steam, and it lagged like hell for me, but of course, GOG swooped in and carried me up in its arms and showed me the DRM-free glory of optimization. Don't forget GOG connect too, if there's a sale on Steam not on GOG, buy it there (special edition of course) and then come on over to good old GOG connect and redeem your copy over here! Thank you again GOG for saving me from the evil clutches of Steam <3
