I loved this game years ago and this remaster is truly great! And with the latest patch many bugs and adjustments have been made.
That being said, from my POV I was able to play and enjoy this game without any hitch even before the latest patch.
Shadowman was in 1999 as today a very fascinating action adventure video game and this remaster gives new life to the title so that it can be experienced in the best way with modern hardware. Having said all this, however, we must accept a video game that is as enormous as it is dispersive, with a ferocious and poorly thought-out backtracking, all without the slightest bit of map to rely on, leaving the gamer's memory with the task of having to remember the points to return to. Bottom line: you spend more time wandering around trying to find new passages than actually playing video games. Too bad, because through the inclusion of a mini map, it would have become a top score title even in modern times.
Loved this game when I was a kid. Now I love it even more. It never got the attention of Soul Reaver series but - in my opinion - was even better.
In terms of story and atmosphere there's really nothing quite like it - voodoo, Armageddon, serial killers and victorian London mixed together. Horror title with thriller and adventure vibes. On top of that Zelda inspired design and gameplay with TPP shooter. It was really suprising it wasn't that much of a success. Also - let's not forgett - soundtrack which is extremally good. I would love to see Remake of this game with modern day technology. True gem.
