Just a superfun good looking game
The game is just great fast paced fun from start to finnish. + Very nice looking graphics + Good ingame music + Open world feeling Negatives: - Maybe a little short, 5 levels, each taking about 1 hour complete. It's okey but it could be longer I had great fun with this. First time playing av Serious Sam game ever. And I don't regret buyint it. Now I also have bough SM4 :D

Super boring opening, spongy enemies, no strategy required, just run and shoot. Game doesn't explain things then punishes you later like the charges you get, you'll need them later to open containers, so if you use them in combat, you won't be able to open containers, and you cannot backtrack either so the game design is super lame. Some enemies are simply designed to annoy you and while there is some fun to be had, it gets boring very fast. Dual weapons are a headache and require an extra button press every time you cycle weapons, no way to just set it to auto dual. Like why?! This is so annoying and makes life harder on purpose. Also, they went full on vehicles, typically a bad sign in a FPS game, and yes, they all suck, and the battles suck and a total borefest. Enemy mechs are so weak compared to the foot soldiers, it takes the fun out of the mech vs mech fight completely as you just back and fire salvos of rockets while the enemies run at you from like hundreds of meters away. 3/5 if you want to kill a few hours and get it on huge discount.

Surprisingly good
I just want to get a few technical points out of the way. Firstly, upon starting the game on 26 August 2022 for the first time, the achievement "Part-Time Hero" instantly unlocked - that achievement is for unlocking half of the achievements in the game! Maybe someone can let me know if that has been patched since. Secondly, It looks like the GOG version will not be enjoying the Halloween Spooky Update 1.05 (as of 25 October 2022) although it is described as a DLC update. I suppose this is the usual trade-off for going with GOG DRM-free instead of Steam. Putting that all aside, this game is definitely a return to form - I must admit, I have not played Serious Sam 4 so I was comparing this with the First and Second Encounters. You will, however, notice the increased expansive (almost open world) levels which might be daunting for some, but consider it progress in gaming tech! If you enjoy Serious Sam games, you will find this very satisfying.

I bought SS4 and Siberian Mayhem at the same time and left a review for SS4 before starting this up. I gave that a 4/5 because it has flaws, but I had a good time with it. After playing a ways into this game I feel I should put SS4 at a 3/5 just to emphasize the gap in how much better Siberian Mayhem is than SS4. I still hold the opinion that SS4 is an improvement from 3, it's flaws are shown in stark contrast when I booted this one up. Name an aspect of gameplay and it is better here. Aside from the base movement and whatnot, that is basically the same. Everything else though; level design, encounter design, the way the perk tree works, graphics (this might be more of an art design improvement), tone and humor, even how they hide the secrets... (bascially no janky psuedo platforming) the list goes on. If you are a Serious Sam fan, then this is a must-play. If you're not a long time fan then this is a great jumping in point if you don't care about the story too much (which you probably shouldn't).
