Sensible World of Soccer 96/97

Hands down best football game. Countless leagues from around the world (many going few tiers deep). As a plying manager you can get offer from national teams, players gain and lose their market value, 20 seasons long career. I have been playing this game since it came out on Amiga. No issues with GOG version, playing it for years.

Playing this game with a keyboard can be tricky. With a conventional gamepad (eg: XBOX and PlayStation controllers, Pokken Tournament pad for Switch, etc.) hitting the pitch becomes more of a satisfying challenge, rather than a discouraging slog - I cannot comment on the controller situation for Windows, but I can say using Boxer on Macintosh USB controllers work just fine. Mind you having apps like Joystick Show help as whatever is detected there will be ready for use via Boxer. Having delved into both FIFA (2000, 2002 and 12) and Football Manager 2012, Sensible World of Soccer is a comprehensive football experience made for all players of varying proficiencies - and I say this as belated newcomer to the game. The career mode plays like a game of FM with the ability to jump in play as you would in FIFA/PES. The managerial aspect of the game is simple enough to lure casual football fans in, but still manages to offer a deep enough experience to be satisfying for experience sports management enthusiasts. In fact the whole game offers a relatively rich experience while staying true to one of gaming's classic philosophical quotes "A game should easy to learn, but difficult to master" - Nolan Bushnell And the best thing about SWoS... No lootboxes or FUT packs devouring your hard earned cash!

Still, in my humble opinion, up there as the greatest, most playable video game of all time. Timeless gameplay, customisation, two pads with friends, its all here guys and gals. Annoyed with having to use 78 different buttons playing PES? Tired of EA's yearly reskin of the same game for an AAA+ price? Got hacked off after paying $$$£$$£$£$ for a load of pointless FUT cards/players that are invalid in 11 months time? Well look no further, a REAL football game is here - same as it always has been. A reviewer below mentioned SensibleSoccer.de. These guys are gods amongst men. Its a free update that brings all the teams up to date with the current season, and supports online play. You'd be mad not to get involved :-) After the debacle that was Sociable Soccer on PC, this is the gold standard that all other football games are judged by and its gonna stay that way for eternity by the look of it. At a ridiculously low price of £1.19... go on. You know you want it's one button thrills again. Go on.

My prefered soccer game for PC, this version is amazing! My first encounter with this title was in the early 90's, "Sensible Soccer International Edition" on the Amiga of my friend. Fantastic and funny gameplay. I love this title, thanks GOG!
