Shooter + Eroge + Gore

If you happen to not like any of those you're gonna HATE this game, better save your money and time. But if you happen to enjoy them, then this game has all of that well mixed in one package. As a SHOOTER, it is polished enough and although I'm not much into this genre, I can say it clearly reminds me of L4D2. Similar amounts of zombies and also boss(?) monsters once in a while. ALSO, it is not so well optimized so you'll have FRAME DROPS here and there. As a EROGE, it is very nice. The 3d models are nicely made and literally BOUNCE everywhere with every move. You can move the camera to watch from wherever angle you want. The story is not groundbreaking though, just good enough. AS for GORE, it is kind of mild. There are american movies with way worse gore. if you don't wanna see it anyway, just don't lose and don't let the girls be defeated by the boss(?) monsters. You get the idea. I bought this game because I like the company's work. I was planning on buying it on dlsite but seeing that it is WAY cheaper over here I decided to give it a chance. I gotta say I'm NOT DISAPPOINTED. GOG's version is censored of course BUT the publisher offers the patch for that and there's even a MOSAIC OFF patch freely distributed. So yeah. TL;DR: Good eroge, good enough shooter, gory enough. If you can handle that, for the discounted price, it is a good grab.

Great game but a bit of work to uncensor

First of all this game needs an official and free patch to add the adult content which can be found on the forum. Unfortunately the game is still censored with mosaics, but if you do a web search for 'Seed of the Dead Sweet Home Mosaic' you should have a 'navguide' site that gives simple instructions on how to remove mosaics. Unfortunately I have docked the game's score because of the mosaics. I'm inclined to believe the devs about the adult patch being a necessary workaround, it seems there is a struggle behind closed doors on all platforms regarding adult content, let's hope freedom of expression wins in the end. Visually the game is a mixed bag but mostly feels about a decade out of date. Character models feel slightly out of place with the guns, zombies, and set pieces. The game would have benefited from a more stylistic approach with the visuals. The gameplay, however, is solid. In comparison, to say, SWO fatal bullet, the gunplay is meaty and satisfying, which most Japanese games fail at horrifically. It's not on par with modern military shooters, but it is enjoyable. The AI is idiotic, which isn't a problem, except that you lose relationship points for shooting them and they have a tendency to come from behind an jump into your line of fire, and being penalized for the AI being stupid sucks. Fortunately the penalty seems minor. I know I've listed a lot of criticisms, but most of that is production value which needs to be balanced against the cost of the game, if it were $60 I would dock points but at $30 it's good value. This is a AA game, not a high budget AAA game. If slightly dated visuals don't deter you, if you like casual shooters or zombie horde rushes, if you like eroge, this is a good game.

A Dimond in the Rough

I've played both Seed of the Dead games and the Charm Song DLC back to back, and I think TeamKRAMA is a studio to watch. It's difficult to be sure, but my read of the credits suggests there are fewer than ten full-time developers. It's an impressively ambitious game for a studio this scrappy. It's an L4D clone, and they're proud of it. Their goal is to, "capture the fun of already existing 3DCG games and adding adult content to them!" L4D2 has over 200 developers credited. This game just doesn't have the resources to polish every animation, asset and mechanic to the same standard as Valve. If you're willing to look past all that, I've already found 30 hours of fun. There's no doubt the game feels like it's made of mods. They're buying off-the-shelf UE4 assets and systems to ship on time. The edges are getting smoother though. This indicates a growing in-house expertise. The assets still have a bit of a stylistic variety, but it's definitely improved. The game now has full cutscene animations, which is pretty amazing, even if the animations are a bit stiff. The levels themselves are still pretty flat and linear, but one of them has multiple random paths and unique drops per path, which really boosts replayability. They've added combat events to some of the levels, which gives you a good variety of FPS gameplay (King of the Hill, Target Protection, Time Trial, etc.). They don't have anything like the AI Director that L4D has, with its statistical models and process control loops to keep the pace of the game just right. There's some hoard mechanics though, so getting better! The standout feature over L4D is the range of sexy collectable costumes and accessories to find and unlock. It encourages exploration and hunting. It looks like their next project is a Skyrim clone called ASCOT, which would be a great fit for that! If you folks at TeamKRAMA are reading this, I'd love to buy an English dub DLC for this game. Maybe Kickstarter it? I would heavilly donate.
