Scrapland is a third-person action-adventure set in a distant future on Earth. Very good remaster of a great game

Last time I played it was 15 years ago, I did not complete the game back then despite enjoying it a lot, I couldn't beat some mission. Then newer Windows versions came and my Scrapland copy became unplayable. I kept my fond memories of it through all the years and suddenly the game got a remaster - I couldn't be happier. The game description and trailer show gameplay quite nicely, I won't repeat what it's about and such. The story is fun, characters colorful and unique, dialogues humorous. Gameplaywise it's very enjoyable. The game has one main storyline and there are optional challenges to get better ship parts - destroy some ships, win some ship races, destroy X characters as a certain character etc. Main quests aren't extraordinary either, quite a lot of them is about getting from one place to another, fighting or talking with someone and getting back. After some hours of that some tasks feel quite tedious as you spend minutes just travelling from one place to another, not bothering anyone. Difficulty level is appropriate for most of the time, I only had to lower the difficulty level to easy for 1 fight near the end of the game - I completed the rest (200+ of them) on normal and I enjoyed it. About the remaster - game runs extremely smoothly, there were no crashes or bugs during my gameplay. Textures look very nice, cutscenes on the other side look untouched - but there are only few of them. I completed the game in under 20 hours, without all challenges (sidequests) it should be around 15 hours of gameplay. There's also a multiplayer, but as I looked the servers were empty. My 5 stars rating comes from nostalgia, game setting, humour and characters - and from a quality of the remaster itself. But keep in mind that the gameplay itself aged a little bit, the ingame world certainly isn't a GTA in a robots world (it doesn't engage with the player very much) and it's very linear - but afterall it provides fun. I wholeheartedly recommend Scrapland!

Dont know how good gog version, but...

The original is awsome. It ix one if those games that has all of those aspects done right. Intresting plot with proper cutscenes, great dialogs, intresting humour, lots of deep hidden clues making game more fun to replay, intresting mechanics, great visual style and hardcore edge gameplay of flying challenges wether those are godfights or racing. The only thing it doesnt focus too much is a great idea behind the plot, but its doesnt need to focus since it is great as light-hearted adventure. Whoever like true games as they should be, can't miss this masterpiece, which is funny because i got this game by mistake, when searching for chronicles of riddick, but i was not disappointed. Dont want to spoil the plot but its a detective mystery story from the point of journalist, like the one from another masterpiece - beyond good and evil - about events on a robot planets where suddenly important robots start to get murdered, and rumors about human seen on the planet appears. It isn't too complex but intresting to follow. Outside of that most dialogs are well made and filled with humour and overall warm atmosphere. As for gameplay there are too main part - wwlking and ship parts. The on foot part is very diverse handmade expirience due to different missions and abilities to play as different robots with unique abilities and possibilities. The ship parts are also very different and really fun to play, although no video here actually shows how its played, because unlike most other such games unique whip mechanic gives those wild flights absolutely different feel and dynamic. Its like spiderman on steroids. Different ships, different weapons and different challenges are very fulfilling. And you can even challenge most characters on a race or Arial fight. Didnt even talked about police both on foot (wheel) and in the air but you will see it for yourself. Heck YES!

Let me preface this by saying that I've been waiting for a digital re-release of Scrapland on GoG since I first created my account. In fact I think I even voted for it in the request section of the forum. And I gladly paid for it again even though I had an original physical copy (since computers tend to not have CD trays anymore). Scrapland is a very unique game in its atmosphere, story, and mechanics. While truly it is nowhere near as complex as an open-world game from its time such as GTA: San Andreas, it more than makes up for it with its unique charm. The rest of it I leave to the discovery of the player. Oh, and the music is great too, I wish there was some soundtrack DLC for this game, so I could purchase and download it separately. Now, it's not a perfect game. If anything, the main thing that Scrapland is lacking is more of itself. But the atmosphere calls me back to it again and again, so I won't complain about it. I'm happy that it is on GoG. P.S. If only GoG could get the rights to No One Lives Forever, AvP2, and American McGee's Alice, I would be so much happier.

Best Place to Get the Game

This is an awesome game where you build your own little ship you fly around on and destroy other ships and fly races. On the ground you can have an absolute blast changing into other characters and playing around with their abilities while also trying not to die while the cops try to stop you. And the story is pretty fantastic too. It's such a shame the original was hobbled by how awful and restrictive the DRM was which made it unplayable for some, a group which only grew as time went on. There's a sort of irony that this version is DRM free, and honestly why I prefer this version over the Steam one.
