Interesting story, not so good gameplay.
Cryptic/Mystic/semi-horror story, well it's quite my taste and the setup is very engaging. The game uncover itself crumb after crumb and I really wanted to see what was coming next! The following will be subjective: - Like I stated in the introduction, story and ambiance were the selling points. A strange, shrouded history with an interesting concept of storytelling. - The 2D arts are very good but the whole stuff is a tad bland. You get pretty panoramas with not half bad melancholic piano/violon soundtrack in the background, some rare scenes are great and cryptics but most of the time the decors on a level look all the same (most does not even make sense on a practical matter) and the points of interest are scarce. - The gameplay is better than a rain recording to start making me yawn. A game does not need to have monster to fight (even if there are here), does not need to have a skill tree or complex puzzles/pixel perfect jumps, but in my opinion it's gameplay has to keep me engaged and mindful. It's a (slow)walking simulator with pits; backtracking and boring ennemies. Most of the hzazards or puzzles are trivial and are requiring you to backtrack or to wait, oh you'll wait, A LOT. Most of the time I missed a puzzle or died against an ennemy was because I just do not have the patience the wait for the game to make it"s stuff. I'm quite happy to look at good arts but I also need to play, here the gameplay and mapping are intentionnaly made to slow you down, to force you to wait and look at the art, you don't have to connect brain cells or be mindfull, just to press forward and wait most of the time, it's a terrible concept in my opinion. Final: Story was engaging, truly, I was still playing in order to uncover it even if as stated above I find the art and gameplay a bit boring. I encountered a technical issue on my side. At the end of a certain level (black pond) the game saves then fades to black as usual, then it just ... doesn't do anything, I can click on every button or wait forever just nothing happen, relaunching the game and reaching the end of the level multiple times give me the same outcome again and again. I'll have to watch the rest of the game on video, a bit disappointing...

Saviorless is a "cinematic" platformer. To start with the positive aspects, the controls are rebindable, the system requirements are adequate, and the visuals are pretty. Possibly, that the checkpoints are frequent enough. The negatives are everything else - the movement, the combat, the puzzles, and the story. The movement, both in traversal and combat, is slow and unsatisfying. The main character has 2 modes - the puzzle one which cannot dash or hit and dies in a single hit and the combat one whose health depletes (replenishes on hitting obstacles or foes) over time and who cannot grab ledges. Switching between them is possible only at specific points and not at will. The puzzles are quite easy, more of a "how to kill an enemy to get the fuse without getting hit" than anything more complex, but given that the puzzle form dies in one hit, it can be somewhat challenging. In combat, it is technically possible to facetank attacks as long as you hit the foe in the process. There is 1 combo of 3 hits and nothing else. The pre-final battle and chase sequences highlight how infuriating the points above are. The final-final battle is functional if easy. Additionally, there are no difficulty options. The story has 2 lines - the one with Antar trying to reach the Smiling Isles and become a Saviour (without explaining at any point why Antar wants it or what the Smiling Isles or the Saviours are) and the other about some otherworldly beings narrating the first story (again, without explaining anything). So, there is little to no attachment to the narrative. The "good" ending is locked behind the collectibles and I did not collect them all upon finishing the game. There is level selection, but the levels are large enough and it is not possible to select a more specific checkpoint, so I have no desire to replay it to hunt for them. The playtime is 3-4 hours.

Art is cool but...
The game is heavily inspired by GRIS to the point of being considered plagiarism. Checkpoints and cutscenes are badly positioned and make the game rather frustrating at times. I somewhat enjoyed it for a couple of hours but I'm not sure I'll finish it. Sure this game can appeal to some people but it needs some fixes.

Very Disappointed One
Why use EEEEEEE to back in manu and WE'RE UNABLE TO REASSIGN the menu control???? And it's forced binded to the in-game player control?? Why? Just because we are pc player? We can't close the sign message by refuse to use E key. A HUGE DEFECT WHICH RUIN THE WHOLE GAME. The characters are beautiful, intro is attractive, story is interesting, graphics looking great, game running smooth, except obviously frame crosses without limite the max frame.
