It's just another day at the office for the self-proclaimed Freelance Police when the Commissioner calls in with a disturbing report: former child stars are running amok in the street! What starts as an open-and-shut case of idiotic vandalism balloons into an all-out conspiracy as Sam and Max encounter one miscreant after another who have been mysteriously hypnotized. (You can tell from the "spinny thing" they do with their eyes.)
Who's the source of this malfeasance, and what is their dastardly plan? Cracking this case will require Sam's nose for detective work, Max's lack of conscience, an assortment of inventory items, and a little help from neighbors Sybil Pandemik, Bosco, and Jimmy Two-Teeth. From Sam & Max's street to the White House lawn, inside the internet, and all the way to the moon, this baffling mystery gets weirder and funnier as it unfolds.

Both Sam & Max Save the World and Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space remain great games after all these years. These remasters honor what made the originals special, while simultaneously modernizing the games. Updated graphics, audio, and accessibility features are just a few of the quality-of-life improvements found in these charmingly bizarre yet well-crafted adventures. New players and old fans alike will find plenty to love.

Sam & Max Remastered is an exceptional remake of a beloved game from Telltale’s early days. Fans of the original will be really satisfied with what Skunkape Games has done here, as the visual and audio upgrades give a modern feel to the aging game. Though it’s a bit of a letdown that there’s no extra content or additions to the story, Sam & Max Save the World Remastered makes it more than worth returning to a 2000s classic.

My previous comment was apparently deleted by people who were mad about this fact (Skunkape?). So I'm gonna explain it again. This game is censored. There are a number of things removed for politically correct reasons that didn't need to be removed at all. Yeah, so you released the original with it, but that's not the point. You still censored stuff that didn't need to be censored. Maybe you don't think that matters, but it does - especially at this point in time. When you guys, get your act together and restore the mising content, then I will be happy to buy your remaster.

Good Remaster with some problems.
I personally had a blast. The added lighting, updated models, camera changes in cutscenes and proper wide screen support really does give it a new coat of paint. And seeing the improvements made be smile with absolute joy. There are sadly some problems. For starters, the game sadly is censored in some parts. Although I haven't noticed that many, it is a damn shame. Political correctness has no place in Sam and Max. Especially when the characters themselves make jokes about political correctness. Added to the fact that Bosco's voice actor is changed for no good reason. Wouldn't really be that mad if the actor itself was good, but that isn't the case sadly. I have nothing to the guy personally, but my God. He's really bad. Absolutely emotionless and to young for the character. So please, Skunkape Games. I know you'll strongly ensist on not adding Bosco's original voice as an option. Together with the censored jokes. But for the love of God, just add the option. Add a disclaimer to it if you need to. LET THE OPTION BE THERE! On a more technical aspect, the game sometimes starts dialogue to late, and ends to soon. Music throughout my playthrough just stopped existing about 4 times, having to reload the area to get it back again. Hope this gets patched. A good remaster, but please. Fix the problems said above.

Not buying it again.
Bought this one two times already. Once on a disc, and once when it came out on GOG. Because sure, I'm going to buy something AGAIN when it comes out DRM free on GOG. Because when I buy a game, I want to have a safe copy, FAR AWAY from the grubby hands of later publishers. AND developers. The same way Scott never seems to be done with his Blade Runner editing, sometimes developers don't seem to be satisfied with their older games - which can be understandable. The main difference here is that they only made a couple of changes in modelling, animation and lighting, which is good, I guess (though, honestly, who cares), and a couple of changes in their jokes, because they want to dial back on their french characters (?) and some of their puns (?). Again, I'd say "who cares", but they clearly do. And I don't. If this was a plain graphical update, I'd give this 3 stars. The game itself is rather good (a 4 stars game on it's own), but you really don't need any updated as long as it runs on your machine. And it definitely didn't need to change the writing. And I definitely didn't need to know about it. Seriously, If I didn't read about it, it wouldn't realise any of the changes. Because, I guess, bad press is press as well. I'm done. I'm not buying this again, I'll just cherish the games I already have.

Hey look, an actual review of the game
Sam and Max: Save the World is a remaster of the 2007/08 adventure game. It's a comedic "point and click" style affair where Sam, a six-foot-tall dog in a suit, and Max, a hyper-kinetic rabbity thing, take on cases both supernatural and absurd. The remaster has a pretty significant visual upgrade from the original and also has character control (i.e., instead of you moving a mouse cursor around you move Sam around. This was a god send for me). Some dialogue has been changed, and one character has been recast. In other words, a few words have been changed out of literally thousands and somebody sounds different from the original release. Personally, I find the review bombing to be a gross overreaction (and ironically oversensitive). Your particular mileage may vary on these matters, but as someone who played the original release of this game and the remaster: I'd pick the remaster every time.
