Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you.
The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to Steelport, a once-proud metropolis reduced to a struggling city of sin under Syndicate control.
Take a tank skydiving, call in a satellite-targeted airstrike on a Mexican wrestling gang, and defend yourself against a highly-trained military force using only a sex toy in the most out- landish gameplay scenarios ever seen, igniting a city-wide war that will set Steelport on fire. Strap it on.

I've tried Saints Row 2 multiple times, and it is missing the dedication to absolute silliness that 3 has.
It is a product of its time, though, and it's definitely got its problems as a piece of media that is not socially aware at all outside of a goal of being fun.
The voice acting is really good, the humor is on point, and it doesn't take itself too seriously. All high recommendations for a relaxing and destructive romp.
It's not a masterpiece, but it's a great game to waste some braincells on.
If you’re a completionist do ALL of the Saintsbook activities before you conquer all territories and defeat STAG. When it comes to the story choices just approach them from an RP perspective – the actual in game benefits of each one are marginal.
Saints Row 3 was where the rot in the series began but at least the PC port is decent and the gameplay is largely just an improved version of what Saints Row 2 had. The story is the second worst after the reboot while 4 just sits in the middle as okay and 2 remains the best of the bunch in this regard. Get this and not the remaster as the remaster has tons of poorly applied post-processing effects and drastically, unnecessarily done art style shifts.
Let's cut to the chase. If you think a sequel should build upon a game, I got some good news and some bad news for you.
The good:
+Better graphics overall.
+ Better animations, now with melee takedowns.
+ Weapon upgrades.
+Character upgrades are no longer tied to activities so you don't need to be a completionist to access them all.
+ boats and flying vehicles are a lot more maneuverable and actually fun to ride.
+ more enemy variety with specialists and brutes.
But if you look closely you'll notice some unwelcome changes:
- The story is still ridiculous and cinematic, but the moment I saw my character jump into a moving plane trough the windshield, mid air, and not die, I knew the writers didn't give a f***, SR2 was silly, full of tropes and steoreotypes, but it carried some drama with the detahs of Aisha and Charlie, or the fantastic end to the graveyard mission. Not here, is all explosions, action set pieces and buddy cop comedy, but with gangster.
- You'd think the wardrobe would be vastly iimproved, and it is in some ways, but there are no longer Slots for shirts, coats or sock, is all integrated into "upper body" or "lower body", and if you don't like the combinations, well, it sucks to be you.
- The audio of the vehicles is absolute garbage, motors are barely audible, you can tell when the audio loops and sometimes it bugs out and keeps playing the wrong clip, like ending a slide, but your car keeps doing the screeching noise afterwards.
- You take damage during takedown animatios.
There are some minor anoyances that are not really that important:
- The "wanted" meters now cannot fall under 1 if an enemy is in your radar, doesn't matter if they have line of sight or if they are stuck on the other side of a building.
- The addition of a "sex appeal" slider in the character creation is a welcome addition, but I'd exchange it in a heartbeat for a character height slider.
- Escort and snatch activities are as frustrating as before.
- no custom weapon colors
