Stick to the original.

This is aimed mainly at people who already own the original game and are only interested in what the remaster offers on top of that. If you're a new player I strongly suggest looking for another game because this one is absolutely NOT worth 40 EUR whether it's remastered or not. It's one of those mid-2000's games that hasn't aged well at all and the remaster does very little to address that. THE GOOD: - They re-made all the vehicle models from scratch and this was easily the original game's weakest point when it came to visuals. - They also remastered the weapon models and this is one aspect of the visuals they managed to pull off without a fault. The weapons look amazing, they're nice and chunky, the metal looks like metal, etc. THE BAD: - Performance takes a massive hit and the game doesn't look nearly good enough to run worse than GTA5. - The MSAA was replaced with TAA which makes everything look smeared as you'd expect. They did add a sharpening feature that somewhat compensates for this but it's way too subtle to make a big difference. - The water looks notably worse than in the original, - The audio is just as broken and horrible as it was in the original game and this is the one aspect of the original game that needed attention the most. - The volumetric lighting is overpowering, fogs up the city and makes the colors look bleached, especially on clothing and hair. If your character previously wore black or white you'll be surprised to find out that neither of those are an option anymore, only greys. Likewise if your character was previously African then you've just been downgraded to Indian. This isn't social commentary it's just how bad the lighting is. - The facial hair is still just a painted on texture and it looks even worse now because of the aforementioned lighting. - They removed some clothing itens: the TF2 masks, the demo items as well as a few other items that were apparently removed to avoid controversy.controversial.

Stick to the oriognal

GOG Staff refunded my purchase despite the discount. This games has major problems regarding performance and offline functionality. This really is a case where you're paying for a very slight graphical mod for very high cost. Not only is the framerate completely unacceptable, but there is content missing from the original version. The graphics are only slightly better and you could probably get better results with a few mods added to the original anyway. Don't waist your money get the original from here https://www.gog.com/game/saints_row_the_third_the_full_package

DONT - A Worse PC Port than SR2, Crashes

IT'S A TRAP, DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION - GET THE 2012 / 2013 "Full Package" VERSION INSTEAD. CAVEAT EMPTOR times infinity with Remastered. The "Remastered" release was released in 05/2020 (16 months) ago as an Epic exclusive and is still a buggy, crashing glitchfest. For example, at times your vision is blocked by a blanketing black rectangle. It even crashes in menus and for many people requires the user to create basic .ini files (e.g. the most famous language.ini ) to not crash on starting a game. Say whatever you want about Cyberpunk or even SR2 on PC, though at least those games ran and booted up. In short, Sperasoft took the fully functional SR3 of 2011 - 13 and F'd up up. "50 bucks plz." Oh and it really likes crashing before and during saving, so enjoy wasting your progress. The Skydiver mission alone did it to me about half a dozen times and led to an inescapeable crash trap. There has been reports from just a month ago that the PS5 and XBOX 5 versions have some of the issues. E.g. the game crashes if networking is not disabled. Considering that online CO-OP is one of the selling points of this re-release, this is a major F-up. It is not clear what exactly Sperasoft worked on with the game other than pure technical sabotage. The graphics are not noticeably better than before. The Epic Game Store version is even worse, don't consider it. It is slightly tethered to Epic's launcher (EOSSDK) and a cracked version runs easily twice as good. Using unnecessary customer-experience-harming DRM demonstrates the intention of quickly cashing in. Disclaimer - I only give the 1/5 score to games that are technically unplayable. My version crashes either right after the tutorial-grade Skydiver mission or about 20 seconds into the following tutorial mission in Steelport. 100 % of the time. The game most likely will not run out-of-the-box on an average system. SR the Third is my absolute favorite game. Too bad Sperasoft turned a Third into a Turd. 'Nuff said.

Fun, whacky open world mayhem

Incredibly fun game that still holds up in 2021 and thanks to this remaster; now under a fresh coat of paint. For the most part the graphical changes are improved with higher fidelity, higher res and more detailed textures and models whilst performance remains great for a decade old game. The NPC and main characters' faces are great and less anime-esque... however... the protagonist's face is HIDEOUS. I'm not sure what they did here but most of the time, your character's face is going to look ugly as it doesn't share the same textures as the rest of the cast. Hair, whilst having physics, looks plastic and hard, which is not good. A few environment objects are still blurry but they are far and few between. Overall, the graphics are really well done but could do with finer tuning. As for the gameplay itself, it's Saints Row The Third as you love or hate it: nothing's changed. All DLC is included so you get all those cosmetics, vehicles, guns, missions etc. all neatly bundled together. It's still fun to shoot, drive, explode everything, collect collectibles and drive around with the radio blasting. Whilst the game isn't as realistic as Saints Row 2 and lacks the living, breathing world of Stilwater such as with the factions and pedestrians, Steelport is still nice to roam around in and explore. Ultimately, it's exactly the same game with the same bugs, content and feel except lots of new shiny effects at the cost of minor performance. Definitely pick this up if you're new to Saints Row or are looking to return and don't forget to check out the mods already available for this remastered edition! 5 stars because the game is incredibly fun, has genuinely funny writing and in general is just a pleasure of an experience.
