The rhythm-music gameplay of BIT.TRIP RUNNER and Runner2 is back and better than ever!
The Timbletot is determined to rid the multiverse of all its love and happiness. CommanderVideo, a lover if ever there were one, refuses to let this happen. He’s ready to jump, double-jump, wall-jump, slide-jump, slide, kick, float, fly, and dance his way to victory, all across a medley of thrilling, challenging, and joyous levels!
Charles Martinet! - Charles Martinet, known best as the voice of Mario, returns for his role of "The Narrator"
Hero Quests! - Runner3 is filled with oddball characters in need of your help. Lend them a hand and they'll reward you generously!
Vehicles! - Players will encounter wild vehicles that stand no chance of ever being deemed street legal. Eggplant planes! A celery car! Cans propelled by carbonation! And so much more!
Branching Paths! - Every level in Runner3 offers branching paths of varying difficulties. Take the hard path and earn yourself some gems; opt for the normal path and line your pockets with precious gold bars. The choice is yours!
Item Shop! - Players will be able to spend gold and gems earned while playing on costumes, capes, accessories, and more. There are no in-game purchases in Runner3--keep your dang money!
Retro Challenges! - A series tradition, every level in Runner3 has an accompanying "retro" level. These levels will also offer a series' first: free movement! Control the Commander in ways you never have before!
New Playable Characters! - The Commanders are joined by friends new and old, including Dave of Woah Dave! fame, Unkle Dill, Frank 'N Stein, Awnty Rewty, and more!
i think this game is worse than the 2nd one. but its still really fun. something that bothers me is sometimes the gold bars and other collectables have visual/audio delays and dont line up with the music. the whole point of a rhythum game is to play in time with the music. some of the enemies feel unfair and are unpredictable.
Fantastic job by the devs!
It's more dynamic, better graphics, MUCH smoother animation now that it's not fps capped (it's running great on a 144hz g-sync monitor), smoother/slicker UI, music is still great, controls feel better. It has tons of new mechanics to keep it fresh and on your toes too. Double jumps, ground slams, falling and changing platforms, analog movement, back and forth shifting and sometimes dodging, vehicles, just tons of cool things along the way in the levels that I'm not listing, but I love! There's cool silly animations all over the place, the comedy is great, funny singing, puppet shows, inside jokes, just crazy the amount of cool stuff I haven't even mentioned. The mechanics, design, and environment are just great.
There's also tons of cool little customization that you can get with the gems and coins you collect completing challenges (like flames, monocles, extra outfits, etc.). AND they have tons of "retro" levels where there's a whole mini-game inside the game that's more classic platforming... it's incredible how much more cool stuff they put in this game.
Also there was a big update to the game recently that addressed many concerns I saw in reviews.
They gave options for more difficulty settings (all separately adjustable) for more checkpoints, enemy density, stair assist, and MORE.
It's not bad, some additions are nice, especially on the aesthetic level. The balance has been a little lost. Of course you can lower the difficulty or remove the extra checkpoints, but this is annoying. Among other things, the visual traps take away part of the desire to continue the race, with the camera moving and the terrain changing too quickly. I did not finish the first one but I played the second chapter several times. This third chapter I do not think I will repeat it.
