Did Slipgate Ironworks make this?
Seriously, HOW do you make EVEN the menus of a remake sluggish? The original game plays just fine and somehow this game just comes out of the gate with controls that feel as if you're trying to send orders to Rogue IN REAL TIME from here to Nu-Earth. It LOOKS good, and that's where it stays.

Terrible controls totally spoil the game
As much as the Redux features improve the look of the game, it is still a poor third person cover shooter with terrible controls. It's a real shame because the story covers the origin of the Rogue Trooper quite faithfully up to a point. Later parts of the story diverge from that somewhat. I own the original version of the game and played it through to the end, I doubt I will bother again. Why the controls are bad- -You will find yourself welded to cover at inconvenient moments -Forget the precision you get in modern first and third person shooters, often times you will have to spray and pray -Almost every action is slow, innacurate and unresponsive -Throwing grenades uses a thoroughly inconvenient targetting system which is also a pain to aim, instead of just lobbing the damn thing! -All these painful inaccuracies will have you wasting precious ammo, which is limited and needs to be crafted from gathered items In summary, the controls seemed pretty bad in the original release but in this redux version not fixing them for a modern audience is unforgivable. Unless you really REALLY like the Rogue Trooper comics and can tolerate terrible controls, avoid this game.

A game not worth remastering.
Rogue Trooper is not a bad game, it's not a good one either. The controls are awkward, aiming is more of a suggestion, a big circle showing around where you'll hit. Switching weapons takes too long, properly animated sure but it makes the fun of actually playing take a hit. The game has stealth, it's basic and isn't polished. There's crafting, ammo and upgrades. Make sure you walk over to every enemy corpse and interact with them to get resources for the crafting. At least you don't have to pick up ammo constantly? The graphics are stylized and yet the game still manages to look bland. Considering the plot is extremely uninteresting too I cannot think of a redeeming feature aside from not being broken.
