RoboCop: Rogue City is a pitch-perfect throwback to the action movies of the ‘80s. It’s over-the-top violence with charm, largely well put together but rough on the edges. Most importantly, it's a fun way to spend time in a beloved fictional universe that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Blasting at goons as an unstoppable walking machine remains as extremely entertaining as it seemed on the big screen, thanks in part to an impressive commitment to capturing the look and feel of the original film. Mixing in elements like routine police work and side quests does a great job changing the pace, too. Even if it’s not the best example of visual fidelity, and prone to some bugs along the way, that love of RoboCop shines through. This is a solid B movie of a video game, which is exactly what the source material demands.

Even if Rogue City had started to rust a little towards the end of its lengthy campaign, its surprisingly in-depth shooting and roleplaying mechanics, love of the source material, and keen understanding of what makes RoboCop so great in the first place has made it one of the biggest surprises of 2023 for me. In a year full of absolute bangers, make sure you spend some time in Detroit.

Love it! I recommend it!

I find the game and the setting matches very well with the Robocop universe from the old movies and the TV series. I got it on sale for 10 Euro, and at that price its an absolute steal. The FPS element is very nicely done and I find it very enjoyable, the rpg skill system seems fine as well, although I have not yet completed the game so don't know how well it will perform overall. I would recommend it for sure tough :-)

A treat for fans of the 80s

I loved this game. Robocop's shooting and throwing of enemines felt like an evolution of their previous games terminator resistance infiltrator mode mechanics. I got to explore familar places and see charactors and robots from the movie. A game for fans by fans.

It's ok-ish

The game is slow-paced and a little more like the source material. If you're a detective game fan or a Robocop fan, you'll probably like it; if you're an FPS game fan or love a great story, you probably won't. Walking around as Robo feels great, and the right mods can turn the visuals into something incredible. I think this is from an indie dev team, & if so, I get it, but the game feels like it is missing a little too much story-wise. I don't mind the pace, but for games like that, I expect either great game mechanics or a great narrative, and this has neither. I took the game slow, hoping for things to pick up in one way or another, but I'm almost halfway & I'm all burnt out. Not for me, I guess.
