RoboCop: Rogue City is a pitch-perfect throwback to the action movies of the ‘80s. It’s over-the-top violence with charm, largely well put together but rough on the edges. Most importantly, it's a fun way to spend time in a beloved fictional universe that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Blasting at goons as an unstoppable walking machine remains as extremely entertaining as it seemed on the big screen, thanks in part to an impressive commitment to capturing the look and feel of the original film. Mixing in elements like routine police work and side quests does a great job changing the pace, too. Even if it’s not the best example of visual fidelity, and prone to some bugs along the way, that love of RoboCop shines through. This is a solid B movie of a video game, which is exactly what the source material demands.

Even if Rogue City had started to rust a little towards the end of its lengthy campaign, its surprisingly in-depth shooting and roleplaying mechanics, love of the source material, and keen understanding of what makes RoboCop so great in the first place has made it one of the biggest surprises of 2023 for me. In a year full of absolute bangers, make sure you spend some time in Detroit.

Solid 80s fun

Rogue City captures the mood and fun of Robocop 1 and 2. You're a big, stompy cyborg with a big, booming gun. Its a simple premise, but it works. I have two major complaints with the game. Firstly the optimisation is awful: it taxes my PC far more than similiar games. Secondly I find the autosaves frustrating: sometimes you can go for long stretches without a save, making it frustrating to replay if you need to quit mid-mission. If you enjoyed the films, i'm confident you'll enjoy this.

Excellent game let down by the engine

I postponed purchasing this as I wasn't expecting much from it, but wow, the intro got me hooked straight away. The scene with the heatbeats blew me away. Too bad they decided to use UE5 which is a total letdown performance wise and it doesn't look uber alles.

Almost perfect

For a licsence game, It's pretty good. The gameplay is great. You feel like Robocop. Poping heads is fun but the game story is iffy. It didn't hold me through

Nails the Robocop vibe

If you're familiar with the source material, this is an accurate representation of the world and characters of the movie. The only things I don't care for is the RPG and exploration. I think I would much rather have levels over the semi-open world.
