Riven (1997)

This is absolute garbage, don't waste your time and a measly few bucks. Riven doesn't work on new PCs -- google around and you'll find a plethora of bad experiences where for the majority of people who've tried to relive their childhood enjoyment of Riven, the ordeal has meant enduring games crashing, not even opening, freezing up when saving, corrupting save game files and never being able to open them again, and for most (like me), the agony of applying patches, fiddling around with silly Windows tricks and trying to repair save game files, is not worth the bother. Watch the game's end on Youtube, enjoy the music, but if you're thinking of playing it, FORGET IT! Don't believe me? Fine, have it your way, but I'll bet you're back here in a week writing a similar review.

wont work on my windows 10 64x machine... such a waste of money

I love Riven! I played it as a child back in the 90's, and to my surprise I enjoy it even more today! The world of Riven is unbelievably imaginative and unique. It's breathtakingly beautiful. The puzzles are difficult, but immensely enjoyable. I never got bored with this game. I always wanted to see what was around the next corner. I always wanted to discover more. As far as old school point and click puzzle/adventure games go, Riven takes the cake. I would definitely recommend this game to everyone.

This game can be very difficult and has peculiar kinks even though you have done everything right. It's about as clear as mud if you don't use the walkthrough- guilty! The storyline and graphics must have been created by a genius, but; you also need to be one to complete it within a reasonable period of time, or have a bucket load of patience. Overall, I enjoyed it, but had to restart from the beginning several times to locate all the clues and codes.
