A mysterious volcanic island.
The heavy tremors on the island bode ill for its inhabitants. Ancient temples have risen from the ground recently, bizarre creatures are terrorizing the area. Fear and terror is spreading among the population.
The end of all hope?
A group of powerful men who call themselves "The Inquisitors" have taken it upon them-selves to put an end to these events. They send an expedition to this remote island, but a storm takes hold of the ship and destroys it at sea.
A hero will come.
As if by a miracle, you survive the shipwreck and are stranded on the volcanic island alone. You find yourself amidst a chaos of rebellion, tyranny, and mystic rituals. It is up to you to decide to which side the pendulum of fate will swing.

Overall, Risen is… fine. It’s a game that was influential and beloved in its time, but that time was long ago, and many other great games have taken its place since.

Risen is packed with content and if you can get past its blemishes there is a solid RPG here to last you at least 60 hours, but I feel a lot of today’s gamers won’t even get off the beach tutorial at the beginning of the game.

The long and short of it is that Risen is a fun action-adventure RPG. It is very rough around the edges, not to the extent of some other games in the genre that came out around the same time (looking at you, Two Worlds), but it has charm. If you’re a fan of Oblivion, or Skyrim, and want to see another game that has a similar style, this might be a good pickup.

Annoing and very repetative
I dropped it game during quest with 5 parts of amulet, that must be found in 5 very similar caves. Second problem - want close combat - you are thief - no one master level sword teacher other than in thieves camp. So I prefer Gothic 2 - and 3 with community patch

Excellent game!
I'll keep it short, it is a mix of Skyrim for exploration and Dark Souls for the combat. Very impressive.
