Rise of Industry is a strategic tycoon game that puts you in the shoes of an early 20th-century industrialist. Build and manage your growing empire in a living, breathing, and procedurally generated world that is constantly evolving and adapting to your playstyle.
As a budding entrepreneur, you will build factories, construct efficient transport lines, move raw materials, produce finished goods, and arrange trade with the world's developing cities, providing them with the resources they need to flourish - for as they grow and prosper, so do you.
Designed with an eye towards both accessibility and depth, Rise of Industry has enough strategic complexity and replayability to satisfy the most experienced fans of the genre, while its simple-to-understand mechanics ensure that new players will love it as well.
Experience tailored for every player - Specialise in just trading, production, gathering or any combination and research your way to bigger and better things.
Use PR & Marketing to gain favour (or repair damage) with your business partners.
Choose from over 100 individual products and manage the manufacturing process from harvesting raw materials all the way to delivering the end product to local stores & townspeople
Build and manage a solid transportation network to enable the efficient transfer of goods via plentiful trucks, speedy trains and high capacity airships.
Be prepared for fierce competition – Advanced town and city A.I., make for an intelligent and changing game world so you won’t be the only one looking for the best deal.
Town personalities – adapt a suitable approach for every town or face their economic backlash.
Huge, procedurally generated maps mean that you’ll always have room to expand your empire into whether in testing scenarios or sandbox mode where imagination is your only limit.
Be quick to adapt to the current business climate with contracts and random events keeping you on your toes and cash flowing in.
Balance environmental impact with productivity, trying to meet your neighbouring town's demands.
I understand this game is EA, but it is still too poorly made even for EA;
The game lacks a lot of content and the content there is, is not properly introduced or explained so you got no idea what the heck you are doing.
And to top it off- the game performs terribly, this game barely runs at 10 fps on my laptop (which has a i7u).
With that said, if the game explains itself better, improves performance and... makes everything better, im sure it will be quite fun. [I can confirm I have more fun playing roblox tycoon than playing this; I have not even touched roblox since 2016]
This is my first review, so don't expect anything too coherent. Let me put the TLDR at the top here: Good game already, getting better. I recommend it as is for any fan of the tycoon/industrial/logistics genres.
I bought this game when it was on Itch about 9 months before the Steam/GOG launch. It was already fun in the early days, and I've checked back on it every few months to find steady improvements in content, graphics, and UI stuff. I have around 50 hours played so far before it came to Steam.
There is a tutorial to help new players, and there are Let's Plays on Youtube to help you further and give you an idea of what gameplay is like.
They have a Roadmap that you can check out here: https://trello.com/b/t94R4mdV/public-roadmap
It'll give you an idea of what's already been implemented plus what is planned.
Feel free to ask any questions in the comments and I'll update this review down the road.
I really enjoy this game - there's something immensely satisfying about setting up a large production chain, watching all the trucks, trains, boats and zeppelins work in tandem to create a finished product. Obviously there are some reviews here which point out things they don't like, however the developers are very active (you'll get a quick response in the Steam discussions and direct access through the Discord channels) and have been taking suggestions. The next alpha sounds even better with a re-vamped tech tree and updated interface! Definintely worth a look :)
I have this on Steam and I really don't understand the negative reviews. Maybe because it not a Cities Skyline clone? Give it a chance, I think you will enjoy it.
Rise of Industry is a game on the verge of greatness:
Pros:
+ Towns grow organically.
-- New shoppes appear which foster new opportunities, the town builds new houses for its residents too!
+ Nice progression, there is always something to do as you build your empire.
+ Intuitive menus and gameplay.
-- I did not do the tutorial, the gameplay is intuitive.
--- There is an easy to read help guide built into the game (top right corner).
+ Inspirational music which adds to the game's atmosphere.
+ Graphics which suite the gameplay.
+ Relaxing, but requires some planning and thought.
Cons:
+ An issue for one may not be an issue for another, I strongly suggest that you play the game for a few hours then decide for yourself if the pros outweigh the potential cons.
Closing Remarks:
+ Remember, GOG has an amazing policy where you can return the game within 14 days, doesn't hurt you to give it a chance. I gave it a chance and I am glad that I did.
