Return to Monkey Island

I have so many problems with this that I won’t even start. Also, the allowed character count is way below what I would need for proper complaining. Still, I must acknowledge the game. It is a decent piece of work and delivers the old-school Lucas Arts adventure game vibe. Voice acting and music is authentic Monkey Island. The artwork is what it is, you either like it or you don’t. I didn’t but still enjoyed playing it. Although starvation for an old-school adventure game probably plays an important part there. It is likely that I would not be willing to suffer through this on a regular basis. Luckily, considering the frequency they have been releasing MI games in the last 20 years, I probably won’t have to. For the moment I’d rather see more of this than to not see anything at all. The puzzles are fairly easy. Sometimes it felt more like a graphic novel. I’ll let you decide if that’s good or bad. Regardless, I think if you like the great classics (MI1-2-3, SnM, DoTT, etc.) you are going to like this one as well. For the 2 days it lasts. I did. I wonder why Schafer was not involved in this one, the game probably would have benefited from his input.

They say you cant capture lightening twice, let alone 3 times. Return to Monkey Island does exactly that. An excellent new adventure that retains all the great things from the originals. Puzzles are challenging without being impossible and theres plenty of Laugh out Loud moments. I hope this isnt the last visit.

What the hell are the other commenters thinking!? they mainly critize the final, but are you sure that you really exlored all the finalS? yes, because there are many of them at the end, depending on your actions. And all of them have a meaning, even if a bittersweet (but deep) one. The game felt great at the beginning, weird and even boring at the middle, fast paced at the end. But all that matters is the start of the game and the final. It is enough to really worth the five stars I'm giving it. Graphics and sounds are great too. Buy it if you are a fan, maybe I would suggest to play 1-2-3 first for the newcomers.
