An Insurance Adventure with Minimal Color


In 1802, the merchant ship Obra Dinn set out from London for the Orient with over 200 tons of trade goods. Six months later it hadn't met its rendezvous point at the Cape of Good Hope and was declared lost at sea.

Early this morning of October 14th, 1807, the Obra Dinn drifted into port at Falmouth with damaged sails and no visible crew. As insurance investigator for the East India Company's London Office, dispatch immediately to Falmouth, find means to board the ship, and prepare an assessment of damages.

Return of the Obra Dinn is a first-person mystery adventure based on exploration and logical deduction.

A game that makes you feel smart

An extremely simple, almost boring premise on paper, but it sucked me in like few games had in recent years. A very satisfying and well executed mix of storytelling and deduction! For anyone wondering, you can go into this game with zero prior knowledge of how sailing and ship crews used to work, but some general knowledge could be useful (recognising some foreign languages, for example)

A fantastic puzzle game based on deductive reasoning. Sometimes you can leverage the confirmation system to gain information but otherwise all clues can be found through perception, knowledge of ships and reasoning through events.

Unique Detective experince

This is truly a wonderful game. It has a unique 3d black and white presentation that resembles no other game. Also the story starts as something ordinary and quickly turns into a strange fantasy tale with strange creatures and other fantasy elements. The mechanic of the game is also very unique (a lot of later games like case of the golden idol tried to use the same basic idea) and the joy of finding each time the correct combination of three correct book entries will make you feel like a genius. A must play...

Great detective game!

Oldschool visuals and great voice acting work great together to create a convincing atmosphere. Its hard detective work is a lot of fun, if you like this type of game! absolutely recommended!!
