Cyberpunk skin on a below-average RTS
First I should say that even though the game suffers from its many deficiencies, the price is set to match so I wouldn't consider it a waste of money if you are craving for some new RTS or Cyberpunk experience. That said the game is clearly flawed in every possible aspect, except its art direction maybe. Gameplay-wise the game presents itself as a standard RTS with the added twist that people are a ressource to be gathered (converted in pratice) at certain spawn points. All other aspects that might make an RTS interesting are deficient in their design or implementation: - The two other ressources have no strategic interest, you just have an easily-defended constant supply of them, never disputed and with little to no upgrades - There is no basebuilding whatsoever, you just recruit people that lie around, you can control territory but they just yeld you a bonus (pop cap, faith or cash ) - Units are a very bland assortement of basic designs (melee, range, healer, support) - Controling anything feels like a shore. You have no real centralized way of controling things, it is dragging selection boxes after selection boxes. Recruiting units will mean searching the map for possible recruits to send to the meat-grinder by the hundreds. You will probably end up playing the game in the only sensible way : creating a single blob of randomly assorted units that you will just flock around until it is grinded into dust, then assembling a new one to start again. No strategy, no tactic. The game is much more of a mob/riot simulator than a cult simulator. Story-wise although the synopsis is full of promises, but the execution falls short badly, with uninspired dialogues and little worldbuilding. The game seems to feature little to no optimisation in term of performance. Making an RTS on Unity is a bold decision that requires more experience on the engine than the team might have had. My advice : get a good look at gameplay videos before deciding whether to buy.
