Open world with sour taste
Because it is a HD-Remasterd I will write about the original game. Be aware, some things might have been fixed (savepoints). You will find a typical open world game. Story is nothing to speak about and mostly absent and you need to do generic missions to unlock the storyprogress. Some of those are fun, some of them are just bad. And mostly they don't make any sense. How hard a (story) mission is and how many savepoints you will find is random at best. And somtimes failing a mission is like in GTA3. Start over from the beginning, including driving 10min to the starting point. Controls are - made for the consoles. You can carry 4 weapons but with plenty of ammo (no realism argument for only 4 weapons) and driving a vehicle can become anoying, because how your car reacts to control inputs depends on where the turret points at and not how your vehicle is driving right now. AI isn't that good but you will meet them in big numbers. Now, the destruction. Yes, you can lay waste to all struktures on that planet and sometimes you have to do for progressing in the game. The physics does behave strange while doing so. All the buildings do seem to be very light wight and very resilent. You can hammer through all walls of a building just missing 3 small pieces and it won't fall. If you think that system will give you any tactical options - beside opening another door - no. Destruction is the game for destruction. Thats all. Yes, it can look intresting, if you make something big going boom. But it becomes sour. And it is not the old geomod anymore, where you were able to "geomod" aka digging to the ground. The surface of the world won't get a single scratch, regardless what you do. All in all you will do generic missions and destroy buildings in various sectors (starting at 0 again all the time) to unlock storymission progress and never doing more than needed If you are looking for a game for using a hammer against buildings, here you go. If you want more - move along.

Inplayable
I'm sorry, but i cant recommend this game. Almost all aspects of it makes ita great game, but the allie AI makes it inplayable. Enemies are a bit too easy, but i fail almost all missions cause an allie gets killed. It's way too frustrating, i don't buy videogames to twist my brain, figuring out how to dodge the bugs, i buy games to have fun. Totally not worth it, i'm even thinking about getting a refund :(

interesting concept, horrid execution
look before I start completey destroying this game, know that I had a basic idea of what I was getting. namely a generic open world but good destruction physics right? here is a list of things I absolutely detest about this game in no particular order: - jetpack: you can only use one ability. why can't I sprint and fly at the same time? - fast travel is locked behind an upgrade later in the game.... - enemies are bullet sponges - enemies just spawn out of nowhere and swarm you. think cyberpunk police but worse. - all the cool vehicles and weapons are locked behind walls of monotonous grind. - the control system is cool but getting control down is honestly insanely mindnumbing. - sidequests consists of you doing menial tasks like in mmorpgs but without any benefits. - higher fps makes the game crash :0 - ugly as hell graphics despite it being reMArsTerED - completely barren landscape. - insanely boring world. - terrible AI. - way too many bugs. this is the reason why I keep playing old school games and have completely given up on 99% of modern releases because in reality the devs didn't want to make a good game. they wanted to create a filler that would justify the 60€ tag for investors.

Too console-ish
This game has been carefully made and its high production values are obvious. Good graphics, flowing animation, impressive physics engine. Yet I didn't like it. The reason is that its philosophy is an console-oriented 3rd person shoot-em-up with some strategy and scarce RPG elements. The elements that point towards this are manifold: - The graphics have high saturation. Colours are almost too "vibrant" as if trying to constantly remind the player that they are on Mars. - Distances between various locations and the "safehouse" are ridiculously small. In the first location, the player's safehouse and some of the targets would be something like 500m in real-life distance. I mean the "baddies" are supposedly patrolling and searching for you and you have a base of operations without any concealment right there. Not very immersive or realistic. - You are expected to bring down various enemy structures. And in this game a sledgehammer is adequate to bring down multi-storey towers within seconds. Everything is destructibe, yes, bravo but this is ridiculous. - Firefights although carefully thought-out suffer from an unmistakable arcade-ism. 3rd person does have an inherent arcade-ism by itself of course but this game takes it to the next level. Forget about 1st person shooter style - here the pace is x2 and you are expected to kill hordes of oncoming enemies by jumping around cover spots or assaulting them directly, spraying bullets everywhere all along. - Strategy is there but feels superficial. I've put about 4 hours in the game and I don't intend to put any more. It's simply too much console-ish for me.
