Decent, but needs more

I like the game overall and it was worth the purchase, but it'd be nice if they expanded the government so that its a bit more dynamic. For instance in a democracy you'd need to sway votes to pass legislation to enact policy (change the tech tree), as an authoritarian you'd have to maybe sway a small council, and the totalitarian wouldn't need any approval. Then balance it with maybe adding the ability to slander congressmen or assassinate wayward warlords on your council.

Jeu peu intéressant, long et répétitif, peu de stratégie dans l'affaire... Préférez Suzerain, c'est 100x mieux.

Okay....at a sale price.

I liked the streamlined interface; the development trees; and random events. Battles are "casual" and not overly complicated. But, as KartoffelCheetah mentioned, too much time is wasted waiting for projects to be completed. Also, I feel the developers placed WAY too much emphasis on GDP to gain money (other then loans). So, even though you can play any country, if you play a "less developed" one, like I did, you'll spend even MORE time waiting to earn money to build your economy/GDP. At one point it got so boring I had a movie playing while waiting for tasks to get done. And God forbid your "poorer" country gets hit with a random negative world wide economic event, you'll be wasting more time still. But, I picked it up at low price and there is fun to be had. With a bit more rebalancing and reworks this game could've been much better.

Not really politcs

Good idea for the game, they put a lot of different variables in there. However they all not really relevant to logic of politics or have any real value. It is more like a strategy arcade. For that type of games they really need a consultant who knows about this subject.

Hit & Miss in equal parts

Realpolitiks has a lot going for it in terms of presentation and smooth accessible gameplay, in a niche that generally is anything but that. Sadly, it does leave a lot to be desired in other areas. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RltL4fxupk Starting with the great is the PC Performance, stability of the game and overall polish… it’s damn good. Smooth 60FPS with no hitches or hikes, with a very clean presentation and a solid (not perfect) UI. Another great part, the Project system takes your budding empire and lets you decide your focuses and goals. Each project making and breaking different parts of your empire – from simple point score to improving your surveillance state (and authoritarian rule! Depending on your choices you also have direct effects on your political climate and populace. Sadly, as we move into other systems like the stock exchange and “bloc” (alliance thing), everything starts becoming less developed, and much more simplified. The stock exchange is about as involved as watching paint dry and has the same impact and where a bloc would be considered something like the EU… its little more than a defensive pact that takes way to much effort to upkeep with no way to join existing ones from Ai on the map. Another issue: The Ai and diplomacy. Getting allies, enemies and maintaining them or cultivating them is nigh on impossible with scores and stats resetting to fast to make useful long term impact and any issues you might raise in the UN to try and get passed, are only going to cost you tons of money and provide no real benefit. Further being anything but near literally Hitler in terms of war, wont make the Ai kick your ass, it just sort of waits and sits there until you gobble it up in your ever expanding empire. The game is not “bad”, but its flaws in terms of complexity of gameplay and issues with the Diplomatic side (ai mostly) do drag it down quite a few notches. Fun, but flawed.
