Quake with Soundtrack!!
To play the original Quake. 1. Go to Quake: The Offering 2. Click on the More Button 3. Go to Other 4. Click on Quake (Software Mode) It's Great to listen to the soundtrack when playing the game.

i must have spent an insane amount of time playing this when it came out. the reznor soundtrack, the gameplay, the atmosphere. the origin of CTF for later series. the original TEAM FORTRESS multiplayer online internet what keeps Quake inspiring: - modding - open source game engine - community (look familiar? doom? yes same reasons) lets be real, open source your game engines after sales will ensure perpetual existence of your game. i got a 3DFX Voodoo 3 3000 16MB AGP card just to play the GL version! now i play the game on linux on a card sized raspberry pi 4b...

A classic, but not a favorite
I played Wolfenstein 3D and Doom before Quake. I've been addicted to Doom ever since it came out and still play it. Quake never quite did it for me as far as gameplay and enemies are concerned. I think it's a great game and I like the ambiance, theme, and level design, but I don't enjoy the weapons and I dislike most of the enemies. I recommend playing Quake, both for its importance in the FPS genre and because it's a good game, but it doesn't rank up there on my top games list for me.

Great game. GOG's just lazy.
My rating is for GOG's packaging of Quake, not the game. Quake is a great game, but save your money. GOG has done update GLQuake for newer systems. I have a fairly old system with Windows XP, Athlon X2 and an NVIDIA card that works flawlessly with nearly all old games released before 1999 and all games released 2000 or after. But GOG's version of Quake will only run in 640x480. All other -width -height options crash. If I wanted to have to scour the Internet, find the recommended mods, install & configure them, then I wouldn't have wasted my money on GOG's version. There are plenty of free mods and ports available. SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

Quake 4 Ever!
One of the best classic games ever! All inclusive: + Software mode (DosBox) + GL Quake v0.95 (v0.97 would be better) + Mission Pack I: Scourge of Armagon + Mission Pack II: Dissolution of Eternity + QuakeWorld I miss the following things: + Music + WinQuake I LOVE IT!
