Could be a decent game...
The visuals and audio are top notch but the 1993 maze levels are beyond tedious and way too long. There is also no save option until you finish a level, no thanks.

My GOTY 2020
There are a lot of reviews here joking this is the "real Doom 3." I would argue that's accurate stylistically from someone who has been there since shareware Doom in '93. This does feel more like a proper extention of that franchise and those themes. The technical polish here is also what I most appreciate. There is a smoothness and flow to the combat I don't find in the modern Doom reboots like Eternal. Some recent review claimed the game has "too much splatter from enemies" but I find the comical gibs a throwback to the ones bouncing aorund in Quake and really appreciate that goofy touch. The tone isn't bleak or over-the-top, it feels like Quake 2 that way. You can apply filters to make it appear even more like Quake 2 around its launch state. The dev or devs also stay very much on top of updates. I see one downloaded constantly. Garbage scows like CDPR could take a lesson from devs like this in keeping customers happy. This and Crystal Caverns, another gem this year, see updates nearly weekly. Thank you for that attention, it shows. The game feels smoother and less hitchy every time. As of this writing, the game is still Early Access but does not appear so. Wonderful strafe-shooter throwback with gorgeous graphics, thank you.

Deus-Tier Arena Shooter!
I was apprehensive about this game, since the visuals are a little hard on the eyes and it seems like a Doom ripoff. The enemy types are definitely very Doom, but oh man, you guys, this is insane. So good. It's the most adrenaline-pumping arena shooter I've played in the past five years. Doom Eternal is a better game, of course, but I dig the more traditional gameplay of Prodeus. The guns feel punchy as heck, the soundtrack gets your blood pumping hardcore and the moment-to-moment gameplay loop is incredibly engaging. I got this on a whim and thought I'd casually stream a few levels, but by the start of the second level, I bumped the difficulty up to the second-highest and played through all the content in one sitting. I had such a high off this game, I ended up winding down with another fast-paced arena shooter right after. I want more content, but I don't want it to get old or anything, so I'm gonna hop on and play through all of the levels each time there's a big content drop. Other people seem to have performance issues and black screens, but for me, it was a solid 240FPS on my Vega 64 and Ryzen 2700X and just as smooth on my 6800 XT and 5800X. I think I may've had one crash, but I was jumping between programs and kinda asking for it.

A Good Time
The gunplay is fun, levels are well-designed and reward exploration, and the visuals are just oozing with style. Speedrunning the challenge maps to unlock weapons and movement upgrades was a particular highlight.
