Privateer 2: The Darkening

Can't kill any ship even with the 3k laser gun,impossible. Their shields just fill up as quick as you put in a few shots. No save game function. No quit function,I have to shutdown my PC to shut down the game. Just awful. The movie parts are fun like a b grade sci fi and i love the music but gameplay,awful.

Very bad game thriving on its glorious predecessor ! - Videos are bad, probably shot on LSD. - The stage sets, costumes and green screen chroma keys are cheap compared to other games of the era like Wing Commander 3 and 4. - Script is very bad with very poor writing and at the end you are like "WTF ?! That's all ?", same level as BSG or Lost finals ! - The final boss, rofl, what is he holding ? Who thought that would be cool ? - AI is bad and i mean it ! Try it ! Set throttle to zero during a dogfight with a pack of enemies and go AFK 10 mins, then come back and check ! Probably safer than trying to fight them off ! - Privateer ? Why ? This ... thing ... as nothing to do with Wing Commander : Privateer, pure commercial trap.

Back in 1998 I thought this game stunk

Google 'Spoony Privateer 2' and you'll get a video that explains everything you need to know about this game. It's one of those WEIRD examples from the days of FMV games. They obviously poured a TONNE of money into the pre- recorded cut scenes, but the gameplay suffered GREATLY for it. I may still suggest buying it though, as there exists high quality studio versions of all the FMV videos that I am sure someone will eventually figure out a way to edit into the game.
