Creator oversees update of his work
If you liked the original, this is the same, except it has all the added convenience features. One of the best things about this version is that Beamdog worked with Chris Avellone, the original lead designer and writer, so the creator's original vision is truly enhanced.

Had a terrible time
Everyone always says that this game is sooo brilliant and that everybody who doesn't like this game is propably just not into reading. I'm quite a lot into reading and RPGs but this game was so incredibly boring. I played 10 h and to be honest, dialogue was the best about this game, everything else was so lacking that the experience was just painfully bad. Morty (your compagnion) doesn't recover his health, and there are almost no places to rest. He even remains at 1 health if I die. So I had to revive him constantly. Some of the humor in dialogue was entertaining but for a game with that many fans who praise it, I found it not very exceptional (good at best, more likely average, but that could be because I was constantly annoyed by painfully bad gameplay). I usually talk to every single npc (even in games without voiced characters), but at some point I stopped caring about anything. There also seems to be a general lack of direction in the game. Here you are outside of the Mortuary do whatever you want... yeah and find Pharod, without any leads. So you stumble around like an idiot for a while and talk to a lot of people who aren't very helpful. I felt there was too much information and too many quests at once at a point were I wasn't really invested in the experience. I walked around a bit and did some stuff I didn't particulary care about until I found pharod after a few hours who sends me down some "dungeon" to find something for him... I didn't care very much at this point. How about giving me some reason to be invested in the story and the world... Some time after that I stopped playing. Complete waste of my time.

PST one of the best, if not the best story in a computer game of all time. Fantastic characters. Polished version of the original master piece with no new content. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks once again to Chris Avellone.

PST's focused on stat buffing, not story
Planescape Torment has too much emphasis on combat over story and role-playing. There, I said it, and I will back it up with my experiences playing all the way to an endboss I couldn't defeat or talk my way past. At the end as a level 12 fighter, I thought Intelligence of 17 would have been enough to "story mode" my way through the game. Obviously not. Got stuck fighting against the endboss because despite doing as many side quests as I thought, I still could not talk my way out of a fight. If I keep running away from the final boss, my character regenerates health so slowly that running/striking/running again becomes impractical. I have to load an old save all the way back to where I was in Sigil, redoing hours I already did, focusing on buffing my character in a game that is supposedly not about stats...? Many might respond and say, you need to be higher level, have more buffs/weapons/armor etc., i.e. focus on making the character more powerful... Doesn't this just prove this game is literally all about stat grinding? I didn't get stat-buffing tattoos because I was "role-playing" the game. I don't have tattoos in real life, so my Nameless One mirrors how I would act and didn't get them either. If I had known it was all about stat-buffing, I would have gotten tattoos for my character. "Sidequests" weaken a boss in Carceri. No one ever mentions these "sidequests" are hiding behind literal armies of monsters overruning Carceri, i.e. the catch-22 of having to be a paragon of combat to get to sidequests to weaken a boss so you don't have to be a paragon in combat. So it seems to story mode the game, you have to focus on buffing intelligence and wisdom stats. Not different from focusing on buffing stats for combat. I wish I had known this game was so focused on stat-buffing... PST, with its hyped "reputation" of emphasis on story over combat, requires more needless grinding than other RPG's I've played over the past 20 years.
