"What can change the nature of a man?" - You are the Nameless One, a hulking figure covered in scars and tattoos collected over the course of countless lives—none of which you can remember, but are now coming back to haunt you. You are prodded awake by Morte, a floating skull and keeper of secrets, to embark on an adventure taking The Nameless One from the dirty streets of Sigil into the mysterious Outer Planes and even into the depths of Hell itself.
Portals riddle the planar metropolis of Sigil, providing access to anywhere in existence, but only if you have the proper key. Known as the "City of Doors," Sigil is a neutral ground where demons, devas, and races from across the multiverse gather under the watchful shadow of the Lady of Pain, the city's enigmatic ruler. This is a place where the word is mightier than the sword, where thought defines reality, and belief has the power to reshape worlds.
In your search for answers, you'll find companions matching the bizarre nature of the planes: a chaste succubus who can kill with a kiss, a confused crossbow-wielding cube, a suit of armor animated by a spirit demanding JUSTICE, and more. Planescape Torment: Enhanced Edition once redefined what an RPG could be, and getting a look one of gaming's greats is nothing if not a treat. Even if it does show its age from time to time.

Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition brings an incredible list of improvements to one of the most enduring and unique RPGs ever written. Simply put, Planescape: Torment is not like anything that came before it or since, and this Enhanced Edition has updated it nicely.

Beamdog has enhanced the core game with no affectations or game changing alterations, allowing Torment to speak for itself without being muffled by the clanking and crashing of technical clunk. The result is a spectacular adventure for those willing to accept its various eccentricities and advancing years.

Hail, sword-ringer!
To me this is the crowning achievement in gaming history and the only shame is that we've not been able to surpass this since. Music is unbelievably gorgeous, D&D 2nd edition is the best one for the job (I suppose because there is no Planescape in any other edition...) and the dialogue is very abundant and thought provoking. Choices are meaningful and mental attributes are significant. What more can I say, perfect. I'm not even gonna urge you to go and play it because if you are a prime you might get lost in Sigil for good never to be seen again. Probably signed a contract Baatezu contract to serve in the Blood War.

Unsurpassed CRPG
Simply put, this game is a timeless masterpiece. It offers deep roleplaying experience and unlimited freedom of choice. Dialogues, characters, and stories are comparable with high-quality literature. Life and Death blend together in Planescape, bizarre creatures inhabit it. Though, the most bizarre being will be you... Can you survive in this grim and foul place, where order is just disguised chaos? How would you save your sanity? Maybe, you have failed already. And not once.

Great story, great world, good RPG
Note: This is a review of the original version of the game. Planescape: Torment is a heavily story-focused RPG. It's got a weird yet fascinating world to explore, a great story, excellent writing (in most places), and some of the best pre-rendered graphics you'll find in a game. The world, characters, and story are where the game excels. It's a truly alien world, but the game is excellent at giving you just enough exposition to fill you in, without it really feeling like an exposition dump. Throughout the game, you'll also find allies to recruit, and each companion has their own backstory and unique abilities; I found myself really becoming attached to the characters and their quirks as the adventure went on. The main quest is generally linear, but has a lot of reactivity. Many quests have multiple solutions, and the choices available to you often depend on your character build, or even on other quests you have and have not done. It would definitely be worth replaying the game with a different character build or with different companions. There are also a lot of optional quests to seek out, and it's very rewarding to do; in addition to earning experience points and unique items, the optional quests really provide a lot of information on the world and characters of Planescape. Built on the same engine used for Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, P:T plays similarly. Exploration and combat are both in real-time, though you can pause combat at any time to use items, cast spells, or give orders. It is here where Planescape: Torment suffers a bit. Unlike with BG and ID, there is little in the way of tactics, and most battles end up with a bunch of people massed in the middle of the screen; total chaos. Even so, the combat is not horrible, and it's worth putting up with it to play the game. Highly recommended!
