Planescape Torment: Enhanced Edition once redefined what an RPG could be, and getting a look one of gaming's greats is nothing if not a treat. Even if it does show its age from time to time.

Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition brings an incredible list of improvements to one of the most enduring and unique RPGs ever written. Simply put, Planescape: Torment is not like anything that came before it or since, and this Enhanced Edition has updated it nicely.

Beamdog has enhanced the core game with no affectations or game changing alterations, allowing Torment to speak for itself without being muffled by the clanking and crashing of technical clunk. The result is a spectacular adventure for those willing to accept its various eccentricities and advancing years.

Looks good and saves you a ton of hassle
I played the original PS:T before, and while i immensely enjoyed the story, the process was not really fun at all. I consider myself neither technologically impaired nor slow, but no matter which mods i applied i couldn't get the game to run smoothly on a 1080p screen. Crashes after crashes, bugs that made some areas off limits, very small interface. I still beat the game once and it was very satisfying, but i could never bring myself to replaying for different character choices. This EE allows me to finally get down to that. After a few hours of play i find the advertised quality of life tweaks well-placed, and recreated interface looks natural. Some mouse actions have been simplified, so it's easier now to play without using the keyboard shortcuts all the time, which is a blessing for someone with a bad back who prefers playing games while reclined in a chair (like me - i'm a bit old). I am not an everyday gamer and most of what i play dates back a decade or two. Modern computers with HD screens generally do not work well with these games. These days you can adapt most of those old gems thanks to the efforts of the online community; but your mileage may vary dramatically. Some games just won't collaborate; others will be shambling around on crutches. I'm not really that big a connoisseur to put up with so much inconvenience, like, for instance, having two versions of the game installed at the same time (one in 640x480) and juggling save files between the two to advance the plot. That's what i literally had to do when i played the original; obviously an improvement on that was warmly welcomed! I'm currently roaming the Lower ward, and i have encountered precisely one bug so far (my cursor vanished - which i couldn't even recreate upon relaunching the game), so i'm going to call this EE technically sound. Very refreshing, remembering how any routine location change or cutscene could crash the modded original. Granted, it was a few years ago, and performance of mods could have been improved since, but i really didn't want to check back on that. Good job sparing me the trouble!

Despite reservations surprisingly good
I had a few reservations about playing this after experiencing SoD and other BG games from Beamdog, but PST:EE delivers. I am happy for the first time to give a Beamdog game a 5/5 Positives: Excellent story, Wonderful characters, Improved visuals and other technical improvements to allow the game to run better on modern PCs. Negatives: Combat system is average at best, the artwork is beginning to show it age, experience and leveling system is odd, to reach high levels you will need to do a lot of grinding but because of the combat system is meh. It is a retro game, so some mechanics are not as fluid as modern games.

PST with mods included at a stupid price
why did i not get this game upgraded for free I own the original PST on GOG so why did Beamdog not offer free upgrades to the community, Beamdog is just getting greedy. After all the SJW and Feminazy bullshit that Beamdog made their fans go through you would think that they would be smart and part ways with all their SJW and Feminatzy propagandist/idealists (fire those crazy cunts) and start making good games, but no, to this day they have not changed course, the company is still set to continue pushing all their social justice bullshit. the game is 5/5 but Beamdogs rating is -5/5 which averages out to a big fucking ZERO rating. PST with mods included at a stupid price, enjoy.

Game is great, ignore the manchildren
This iteration of one of the best games in gaming history is THE version to get. If you do not get Beamdog's version of PS:T, you will be futzing with mods for up to an hour or more and won't have all of the quality of life upgrades that Beamdog's version has. There is nothing at all wrong with this version of the game. The primary reason for the bad reviews is that Beamdog once included a trans woman in one of its own games. You read that correctly: A certain segment of gamers are still so angry about a years-old trans character that they are *still* attacking this developer. There are plenty of developers who have horrible, violent, hateful worldviews that they actually defend (Vavra, Wardell, etc.), but the instant a developer includes a minority character they lose their minds. Most of the bad reviews are from gamergate types complaining about Beamdog. Please keep in mind that gamergate is an organ of the fascist alt right that seeks to push women and minorities out of gaming spaces. The SPLC has classified Gamergate as a hate group. Beamdog has done nothing wrong and hasn't made any questionable design choices at all. This is a political attack on Beamdog because they pose a threat to the fascist worldview. Gamergate will *pose* as a "reasonable" middle ground, but once you pull back the curtain, and actually look at the hatred they spew on their websites and forums, it becomes apparent what they really are. Beamdog gave us a much-needed update of one of the best PC games in history. I'd recommend buying it at full price if you don't already have a copy of PS:T. If you do and you intend to replay the game, wait for a sale.
