Best Version Of a Meh Remake...

Overall this game is MILES above the original switch remake. With the ability to super sample and play above 1080P the game can even look decent. However this is really at best a reskin of the 25+ year old Saturn game. The modern controls aren't precise enough, the lives system really doesn't work in a modern era game. The story is as ever confusing. There simply wasn't enough QOL of updates for this game to make it worth a full price purchase. The game is at best 2 hours long. If you can get this game during the winter sale or such for less then 5 bucks, Id say its worth it. Otherwise don't bother.

Fun, but missing option to save

I still know the original from back then. The game has been well adapted to today's hardware and remains true to the original. You immediately feel reminded of games like star fox. The game finds its own way, which must be clearly emphasized. Gampad is also very well supported, that should at least be mentioned. No need to fiddle around in the options. The graphics have also been beautifully enhanced, without overdoing it. Even if the game is really short, I miss a save function. Sure, the original didn't have it either, but that really wouldn't be too much to ask for an remake. Each of us knows situations in which you want to interrupt the game without losing the complete progress. It's really good for what it is. Unfortunately, I can only give the game 3 stars, considering the point of view from which I came. Often I don't have the time to play through a game in one go. If that's not a problem for you, feel free to give my review more stars. Three stars are fine, above average, but there is definitely potential wasted. Especially when you consider what it normally costs to buy this game. Buy it on sale, you will not go wrong, but not for the original price.

great remake, absurd price point

you're in for six levels (technically seven, but one of those is just a boss fight the previous level didn't have, so really six) of atmospheric, visually stunning arcade shooting, followed by several months to a year of complete radio silence until you get bored and decide to pick it up again. do not buy at full price. free tip: the shoot ratio refers to how many enemies you shot down, the game does not care how accurate you are.

A short concept game

Never played the original but saw it a lot as a kid. It really feels liek a concept game, an arcade game on a console. The music is nice, the gameplay is really cool, even though now we could have both joystick used for moving and aiming. The graphics are colorful, enemies have a distincful design. Now on the bad side, the story is just blend, I had one moment where I cared for the characters, the rest is just going along with the stages of going "pew pew". It's a good game for 10ish USD, if the original caught your eyes but you were never able to play it

Decent Rail Shooter

If you like rail shooters like Star Fox or Sin and Punishment then you would likely find something to like here. I never played the original release and this one has some wierd bugs in the cut scenes but overall a fun experience.
