He took Mages, with their arcane magics and strange potions. He called upon Swordsmen, with their sharp blades. With him came Rangers and even a Thief who had reformed his ways.
Their journey took them across fierce desert and swift rivers, through steamy jungles and into caverns that descended to the very heart of the earth. On their long and perilous journey they did battle nasty trolls who caried great axes. Undead zombie plauged them and dragons burned their hides. Sorcerers exchanged orbs of fire with their wise magic and cast mind stuns on the unwary

Omnitrend released this a year after they released Breach. They play similar to Xcom. (They came out before Xcom). I owned the Amiga version of this, (along with Breach and Paladin 2). Very enjoyable and well designed.
Highly Recommended 1988 classic.
Paladin, and it's brother breach are strange but interesting titles. They are both technically RPGs with a main character who levels up with each mission as he continues to use skills. Sadly these are the only characters who level up, but there are plenty of allies in both games that vary depending on the mission and are usually unique to it unless used twice. However the main draw of both games is the ability to build your own adventure, albeit limited to a few different core tilesets, enemy types and objectives. Overall both games are immense fun, and though they essentially play the same, Breach is firmly set in the future in space warfare and Paladin is firmly set in the past, trading your laser rifles for the glory of the Sword. Will you be the next great Paladin?
Gog.com, I love this game its good but the Dos version is very very tacky the keys and UI are hard to use. Please include Amiga and Atari ST versions and any other version of this good old gem.
