Russia is in disarray, but unknowingly sits on a mineral that could see her rule the world. This mineral, Siberite, is a catalyst for Cold Fusion. America knows about Siberite and sets out to make sure that it never falls into Russian hands.
Take control of US marines sent on a one-way trip into the past to move the Siberite into American territory or command Russian troops to go back and keep it where it is. Whatever you decide, beware the Arab mercenaries who only want to see the Siberite destroyed!
In game you can train a team of different members specializing as soldiers, mechanics, scientists or engineers. You can also build vehicles of your own design or you can steal hi-tech plans from your opponent. Everything is up to you in this mix of role playing and real time strategy.
The future is in your capable hands, soldier!
Features:
Rewrite the history of the future by battling your rivals in the past
A great, complex plot in which even individual units have a backstory of their own
Change your units’ specializations to better suit the needs of the battlefield
Legacy version of Original War is also included. It supports operating systems older than Windows 7.
One of my favourite games, and it's has been so many years... The story is incredible, the characters are interesting and unique, game mechanics is great, the dialogs and dubbing is superb... I love everything about this game.
RTS veteran here. I had this game when it was released, I didn`t really enjoy it (obviously I don`t remember why exactly), so I put it on the shelf pretty quickly then. Now, 20+ years later, I was looking for something to play, and came around it again. It was supposed to be a classic RTS, and a VERY good one. So I bought it. It definetely has a nice climate to it, but it`s way overcomplicated. Don`t get me wrong - I enjoy a little challenge, but with this game you have to acknowledge one little weirdness to go a little bit forward, then again, then again, and when you think you`re about to complete a mission, a grand weirdness hits and you just have anough of it. I didn`t really mind RPG element, which in general shouldn`t be present in a RTS game, but it`s not that bad. Anyways- it`s a shame- if it was a little less overcomplicated it would actually make a very good RTS game. Not great, but very good. But the way it is I`d only rate it two stars, and in my opinion it is a little too much anyways.
Got this as a freebie quite some time ago decided to finally try it.
I loved C&C and war(star)craft.. but this.. eh.. this is just tedious.. not only do you have to build buildings bu you also have to staff them to inorder to get anything done.
want that vehicle built? well you better have your mechanic staffing the workshop.
I was trying to go with it.. but on the 3rd mission another group is going to do a joint attack.. although they're going to go even if you're not ready.. eh.. okay what ever.. I think i've seen enough.
Im sure some like this level of house keeping in their RTS games.. not my cup of tea.
